About KING:

Kids in the Game is dedicated to developing New York City’s youth by providing opportunities through sports and fitness to the schools and communities we serve. Our goal is to develop the next generation of leaders by developing healthy habits, an active lifestyle, and promoting personal growth through play and competition. During the school year, KING is rooted in dozens of schools around New York City, offering recess, after-school, physical education, early drop off fitness, and sports instruction. In addition, KING operates summer camps, sports clinics (basketball, soccer, volleyball), and special events.

 

Position Description/Core Responsibilities:

Kids in the Game (KING) is currently hiring part-time youth soccer coaches for Saturday morning classes on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Classes are designed for beginner and intermediate players ages 4-10 years old. Candidates must have experience in teaching the fundamentals of the game to this age group. The ideal coach will love working with children, be able to instruct/describe games to children and be comfortable talking with parents

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead soccer activities and clinics such as individual practices, training sessions, scrimmages and tournaments.
  • Developing lesson plans for team practices and competition.
  • Motivate and train the players, as well as assesses player’s skills and assigns team positions to determine the needs for individual and team improvements.
  • Constant communication with parents about practices and tournaments.
  • Participate in the build out of Kids in the Game’s soccer brand

Qualifications:

Bilingual is preferred, but not required.

Former college athlete and/or current coach preferred, but not required

2+ years’ experience working with children

Demonstrated experience leading groups of children with the ability to engage and inspire youth

Ability to communicate effectively to senior staff and administrations at schools

Experience interacting with diverse communities
