POSITION SUMMARY
The Global Director, Corporate & Retail Events oversees the strategic planning and execution of internal/external events to support companywide initiatives, help drive brand awareness with our retailer partners and create experimental in store events to drive sales. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of leading global corporate and retail facing strategic events with 1,000+ attendees with experience managing multiple high-stakes projects at once. Implementing first-class standards, policies, and procedures for how KENDO executes meetings and events (including virtual, live and hybrid), the Global Director, Corporate + Retail Events will collaborate with our senior internal stakeholders including Executives across all departments to plan, lead and execute corporate events with a range of complexity such as our internal corporate meetings: our bi-annual Sales & Training Conference for KENDO’s Retail Field Team, our annual all-company conference KKJ and yearly Education Bootcamp, while working with external business partners to source meeting/conference locations and oversee contract negotiations for large-scale external facing retailer conferences such as Sephora’s yearly North America Store Director Conference and Ulta’s Field Leadership Conference.
In addition to corporate events, the ideal candidate has extensive experience strategizing in store client experiential events within our NA Sephora and Ulta stores to drive sales and brand engagement identifying key opportunities in lock step with key launches and marketing initiatives. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Hire, lead and develop KENDO’s Global Events team and build out the company strategy around, meetings/conferences, and design projects (remote and in-office) – directing and delivering KENDO’s vision
  • Define program/project goals and timelines related to key projects and deliverables
  • Work cross-functionally with internal leaders and business partners to:
  • Ensure the business purpose of each meeting/conference is aligned with objectives and that themes/ideas are kept alive as needed across each event
  • Ensure meeting planning and logistics support the desired outcome of the meeting/conference
  • Gather feedback from attendees and incorporate big ideas into future meetings and conferences
  • Ensure design deliverables tell a story and remain consistent to the KENDO portfolio
  • Oversee project management of events programs and some internal communication programs (with support from Manager of Brand / Corporate Events)
  • Establish business priorities that support the overall company objectives
  • Partner with external suppliers and agencies as needed
  • Oversee event staffing and contractors onsite
  • Create and implement ongoing metrics, both qualitative and quantitative to measure success of meetings/events and design deliverables

REQUIREMENTS
  • 8-12 years of relevant corporate event management experience: Beauty or Marketing industry preferred
  • Deep knowledge of both agency side and client/corporate events side preferred
  • Expertise in navigating both in-person and virtual events, with an innovative approach to creative, hybrid experiences
  • Demonstrated ability to manage internal client relationships, including executive level, in mid-to-large-size organizations
  • Provide leadership to direct reports including coaching, development, and strategic/tactical direction, serving as a mentor and role model to team members placing a high priority on developing others
  • A detail-oriented, analytical approach, with the ability to manage multiple, high-profile projects and deliverables
  • Superior budget management and able to identify company savings
  • Passionate about process and innate attention to detail; able to detect inconsistencies, error, and identify way to correct these issues
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment while being a self-starter
  • Extensive virtual and/or online platform experience (ZOOM, Teams, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Web-based project management software (e.g., Smartsheet)
  • Action-oriented, with ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with various levels in the department
