POSITION SUMMARY

The Travel Retail Global Brand Manager is responsible for the brand and account management of Kendo’s travel retail business in the Asia Pacific region (Currently South Korea, Hong Kong, and Macau).  The role is highly entrepreneurial and will reward the correct candidate with broad exposure to international duty-free markets, travel retail and brand management.  By driving communication between stakeholders and start to finish implementation of brand strategy, the Global Brand Manager is the business owner for the region.

The ideal candidate is analytical, has a can-do attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit and is eager to wear many different hats.  This role reports to the Global Brand Director, Travel Retail and has one shared report.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Account Management

  • Daily account management and communication with clients and domestic and international counterparts
  • Lead communication between Travel Retail department and cross-functional teams

Global Strategy and Research

  • Assist in formulating global brand and product strategy, including:
    • Market and competitive research
    • Assess new business opportunities
    • Mapping of competitive environment
    • Development of promotional or limited-edition business opportunities
    • Adjust positioning of global launches to meet local market needs

Brand Management

  • Develop short- and long-term international brand strategies to exceed company objectives; work with cross-functional partners to successfully execute plans
    • Identify opportunity in existing market to drive growth
  • Understand and anticipate the needs of specific markets to adapt global brand strategies
  • Partner with inventory planning team to provide forecasts for each season and adjust forecasts as needed based on sales results in order to achieve business goals
  • Act as brand liaison for internal teams supporting international businesses e.g. visual merchandising, international marketing and education teams
  • Establish and maintain effective cross-functional relationships with both internal (inventory planning, education, creative, product development, international, and operations) and external partners
  • Negotiate and maintain 360 market calendar per retailer (product launches, promotions, education, gifting, etc.)
  • Prepare, support and lead meetings to facilitate effective communication (including calendared calls with local markets)

Merchandising and Assortment Planning

  • Manage market assortments to optimize sales and minimize liability
  • Oversee the proper execution of visual merchandising updates, ensuring flawless execution in each point of sale in the region

Reporting and Research

  • Work with international counterparts and operators to provide periodic performance updates as well as ad-hoc reporting and analysis
  • Research competitive and product benchmark in order to identify product opportunities and trends and make recommendations to drive the business

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA appreciated.
  • 5+ years of related business experience, color cosmetics experience preferred but not required
  • Previous exposure to international (beauty) markets and/or working in Travel Retail a strong plus
  • Must demonstrate strong strategic, creative, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Thrives on an environment that is fast-paced, rapidly changing, and customer-focused
  • Strong time management skills; able to handle multiple priorities and work within matrixed organization
  • Clear demonstration of utmost professionalism, and calm under pressure
  • Team player
  • Knowledge of Korean a strong plus
  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills
