The Kendo house of brands currently includes: Bite, Kat Von D, Marc Jacobs Beauty, Ole Henriksen and Fenty Beauty.  



The Commercial and Product Counsel is a critical Partner for our fast-paced and growing Kendo Legal team.  This role will handle all Domestic and International Commercial Contracts and Advise the Business on Legal Compliance across its five brands.  This role is key to the continuing Evolution of the Kendo Legal function and Kendo Brands as a whole.



  • Advise on a broad range of Commercial matters
  • Review, Draft and Negotiate all types of agreements - including Inbound, Outbound, Infrastructure, SOWs, Vendor, Manufacturing, Influencer and Partnership agreements
  • Advise Senior Management and Cross-Functional Leaders about relevant Legal issues and Risks, Complex Agreement Structures, Approval Processes, and Company Policies and Procedures
  • Provide general Legal support to our Global Business on an as-needed basis
  • Advise on Social Media Compliance



  • J.D. Degree; member of California State Bar in good standing
  • 6-10 years’ experience practicing law, including a minimum of 3 years In-House
  • Strong Negotiation and Drafting experience
  • Track record of Initiative, Collaboration, Problem-Solving and Intellectual Curiosity
  • Experienced with managing multiple projects for various internal stakeholders
  • Effective Verbal and Written Communicator -- You can speak to Technical Experts or Business Leaders in plain English, without Legal jargon
  • Experience advising Product teams as they Design cutting edge Products, balancing Commercial, Marketing, Compliance and Privacy concerns
  • Quick learner with the ability to Perform in an Evolving and Changing Environment
  • Able to work well independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, often under tight deadlines
  • Familiarity with the Cosmetics and Beauty industries and/or strong background in Regulatory Compliance a bonus
