At JobTarget, technology is at the core of our business. We provide a web-based, hosted job board platform to professional and trade associations, publishers, and world-class companies and entrepreneurs. Our recruitment advertising platform connects over 100,000 employers, recruitment advertising firms, and recruitment ad agencies to pools of candidates tailored for their industries.

We are a 12-year-old company with offices in New London, CT and operations in the Philippines. Our Norwalk, CT office will open in November 2012.

Who You Are

You are a software developer with experience in and passion for web technologies who is eager to be a member of a growing team. You may have a degree in computer science or you may have years of hacking under your belt; either way, you have what it takes to contribute to an ecosystem of software supporting a highly available product line serving over a quarter of a million page views a day.

The Job

Our PHP engineers build and maintain internal and external systems with the guidance of the architecture team. Every engineer contributes code to production systems and actively participates in design and implementation discussions; there may be small projects but there are never small roles. Our process is agile and distributed; you will work with people locally and remotely and have the opportunity to learn and grow as both a programmer and team member.

This position is for a junior level position in one of our two product teams (Job Board or OneClick – see working directly under the product development manager. 

Required Skills

  • BS degree in computer sciences, information systems, related field or 1-2 years of web based application development experience
  • Self-motivated, thorough, articulate, detail oriented, creative, personable, and team player
  • Experience with relational database (SQL Server preferred, but not required)
  • Experience with ColdFusion or PHP

Preferred Skills

  • Though we are primarily a windows development shop, Linux / Cygwin experience is a plus
  • N-tier systems: cache (Couchbase), queue systems (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ), NoSQL (Mongo, Couchbase)

  • Active involvement in the industry: blogging, open source contributions, personal projects
