Release Train Engineer-SAFe Certified

Job Description

We are looking for a Release Train Engineer - SAFe Agile Certified 

  • Drive continuous agile improvement for each team along two key performance areas: 

    Agile Maturity and Team Delivery & Output

  • Progress on Agile Maturity improvement by communicating standards/leading practices, assessing team agile maturity of SAFe & agile practices, facilitating team goal-setting and tracking (e.g., via Inspect and Adapt workshops), and supporting ad­ hoc agile delivery challenges with ongoing coaching 

  • Progress on Team Delivery & Output improvement by aligning on norms for capacity and story point measurement and team-level goals for total sprint output 

  • Conduct status reporting to Program Portfolio Management that clarifies the status of team-level Agile Maturity and Team Delivery & Output 

  • Monitor program delivery by tracking team-level output (e.g., Azure Boards/Jira, team backlogs, team capacity and story points) 

  • Track, mitigate and escalate blockers, dependencies and risks by working closely with Scrum Masters; clarify any program-level impact or implications 

  • Schedule and facilitate program agile ceremonies (e.g., Pl planning, scrum of scrums, demos) and manage program calendar (e.g., sprints, increments, releases)


Plan and execute Pl Planning Events: 

  • Facilitate pre-planning (providing examples, templates and guidance) 

  • Set expectations for all attendees aligned to a timeline 

  • Drive input creation and facilitate the event (including preparing facilitation materials) 

  • Create and publish outputs to clarify the path forward (includes program board, team and program objectives and dependencies)

  • Work with PM/POs to align releases goals with team epics, backlogs and capacity Identify and provide input on resourcing needs to address bottlenecks

  • Assist with the economic decision-making by facilitating feature and capability estimation by teams and roll-up to the value stream level and portfolio level.

  • Encourage the collaboration between teams, architects, engineering, and UX 

  • Work with Product Management, Product Owners, and other value stream stakeholders to help assure strategy and execution alignment 

  • Coach leaders, teams and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mind-set Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks 

 

Requirements:

  • 10+ (or 7+ with advanced degree) years of relevant experience, with at least 5+ years of product management experience, including balancing schedules, costs, and timelines Exhibits agile behaviours.

  • Requires leadership experience with Agile delivery of an end-to-end insurance transformation

  • Does not require technical expertise of selected solutions, but familiarity with insurance technology is a plus 

  • Experience with Lean-Agile principles, metrics, and technology and/or experience with Lean Thinking, Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen Leader 

  • Track record of setting agendas and delivering results 

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to navigate complex organizational structures to deliver results 

  • Ability to drive work to conclusion without constant monitoring and intervention
