Jana has a history of building Android apps that reach a large scale and audience. Our first product, mCent, reached over 50MM downloads. Our recently launched mCent Browser has grown to over 1MM monthly active users in the first 3 months, and projected to hit 5MM monthly actives by the end of the 2017. We are targeting company profitability in 2018.

Jana is looking for an experienced Android engineer with a passion for building great products. We're building a world class web browser and looking for someone to help us make it perfect. You should be motivated by building great user experiences and are not shy about applying the polish and tweaks that really make things pop.You also enjoy promoting engineering best practices, and coaching your teammates, while also learning new things from their experiences.
As an Android developer at Jana, you'll work on our fork of the Chromium open-source codebase using Android Studio and an assortment of popular Android tools. Most of our engineers prefer to work full stack so they own their features end-to-end. Our supporting APIs are written in Python 2.7 using Cassandra for persistent storage.

Build world-class consumer app experiences for our Android app, mCent Browser. This is a hands on role, spending 75-90% of the time writing or reviewing code through GitHub pull requests.
Work with team leads and product managers to prioritize roadmaps, groom backlogs, design experiments (A/B and split tests), run experiments, and analyze them for results.
Mentor engineers on the team, while encouraging and spreading the adoption of best practices, technologies, and patterns to the broader engineering team.
Minimum 5 years software development, minimum 3 years with Android
Fluent with Java
Strong UI development skills and experience working with complex view trees
Experience developing with performance in mind (both networking and computation on the device)
Experience across the entire stack: front-end user interface (UI), backend APIs, instrumentation and analytics, and operations
- Experience collaborating on high performance engineering teams, with a track record of delivering results
Worked on a consumer app with significant scale
Deep familiarity with an emerging market country: have you lived or worked abroad?
