Bid Writer

Job Description

We are looking to recruit a talented Bid Writer. You will be working on various IT and Software Bids. You will be responsible for producing professionally written proposal content that clearly articulates the business value proposition. This is a networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to demanding deadlines.


Accountabilities:

  • Lead storyboard sessions with bid team members
  • Proactively develop and manage a network of subject matter experts
  • Assist the bid manager in developing a bid structure
  • Identify and rework existing pre-written content where relevant
  • Deliver completed written bid responses to the bid manager against bid deadlines; escalating issues as required
  • Re- write / edit proposal responses from a variety of stakeholders typically involving contributions from marketing, business development, product teams, finance, commercial, legal and technical
  • Ability to coach bid teams / bid members in writing best practice
  • Ability to teach the use of Work Winning Process / Tool Kit
  • Present all new bid content to the Knowledge Management Data Base for re-use
  • Bid automation software (or similar) experience
  • Communicate and influence at a senior level
  • Strong time management / prioritisation skills
  • Strong written English Language skills

Responsibilities:

  • Managing bid process from inception to completion
  • Effective understanding of requirements
  • Development of response to meet requirements including themes, specific bespoke requirements etc.
  • Building effective relationships with key departments in order to gain buy-in
  • Commercial input into contractual details and pricing
  • Development of presentations post-RFP drawing on themes from tender
  • Handling procurement queries
  • Continuous improvement of responses based on lessons learned
  • Development and maintenance of collateral to support proposals and marketing channels
  • Pipeline and opportunity reporting
  • Liaison with external and internal stakeholders


Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Degree educated (ideally English Literature) or journalistic / professional writing
  • Proven experience in producing and editing bid content within a complex business environment
  • Experienced in leading storyboard sessions
  • Previous experience in participating in key review meetings, final document review, content sign-off and document production
  • Experience of establishing, coordinating and updating a Knowledge Management database system would be beneficial
  • Advanced MS Word skills and proficient in MS Office

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project and / or Microsoft Visio
  • Background or accredited to APMP Foundation and Practitioner Level
  • Project or Programme administration experience
  • Tender / Bid Final Document Production experience
  • Knowledge of IT and Software systems
