VP, Exhibitions, Conferences, and Sales

Job Description

Overall Responsibilities:

The Vice President, Exhibitions, Conferences and Sales has overall responsibility (concepts, planning, and budgets) for all activities for which the exhibitions, conference and sales team is accountable including:

  • Exhibitor marketing and sales for IAAPA Attractions Expo (IAE), Asian Attractions Expo (AAE), and Euro Attractions Show (EAS).
  • Operations for IAE, AAE, EAS, IAAPA Leadership Conference and operational and logistical support for other conferences, meeting and events.
  • Sponsorship sales for IAE, AAE, EAS and IAAPA Leadership Conference, FEC Summit and other conferences, meeting and events.
  • Advertising sales.   

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Operations

  • Develop and oversee the department budget and the exhibit sales budgets for every expo. 
  • Direct all areas of operation for IAAPA Attractions Expo, Asian Attractions Expo, Euro Attractions Show, IAAPA Leadership Conference and other conferences, meetings and events including registration, decoration, housing, etc.   
  • Direct IAAPA’s exhibit sales efforts for IAAPA Attractions Expo, Asian Attractions Expo, and Euro Attractions Show. 
  • Direct event site visitation and selection.
  • Direct hotel room block negotiation and selection
  • Plan and execute IAAPA’s receptions and special events at IAAPA signature events.
  • Manage the bidding process for event contractors and subcontractors.    
  • Serve as staff liaison to various officers and committees responsible for planning trade shows, special events, site selection, including Manufacturers and Suppliers, Space Allocation, and Exhibitor Awards.

Exhibitor Marketing and Sales

  • Oversee efforts of global sales team of 6-8 persons in headquarters and regional offices.
  • Develop and implement exhibit marketing and sales plan and marketing materials.
  • Oversee and review all exhibitor communication efforts with the assistance of the exhibit sales team and the Senior Director, Conference and Trade Show Operations.
  • Develop and manage exhibit sales procedures, booth assignments, booth moves, floor plan changes, customer service issues, payment rules and regulations.
  • Develop exhibit floor plan layout to maximize sales.
  • Manage the development of exhibit sales prospect list, qualification, source tracking marketing efforts.
  • Develop and manage exhibit sales procedures, booth assignments, booth moves, floor plan changes, customer service issues, payment rules and regulations.
  • Manage and oversee web site development / marketing / sales portion specific to IAAPA Trade Shows.
  • Manage or oversee exhibit space allocation and selection process for global exhibitions.
  • Manage customer service procedures to all supplier members.
  • Manage on-site exhibit sales and exhibitor customer service.
  • Create and distribute weekly sales reports
  • Oversee ancillary exhibitor services.

Advertising Sales in Print and Digital Publications/Products:

  • Supervise Director of Advertising Sales to prepare media kits and sell advertising in:
    • Funworld magazine
    • IAAPA Attractions Expo Conference and Trade Show Daily
    • IAAPA Attractions Expo Conference and Trade Show Program
    • Asian Attractions Expo Conference and Trade Show Program
    • IAAPA News Flash
    • IAAPA.org
    • Other advertising opportunities as available

Sponsorship Sales and Service

  • Supervise Director of Global Sponsorship to sell and service sponsorship in: 
    • IAAPA Attractions Expo
    • Asian Attractions Expo
    • Euro Attractions Show
    • IAAPA Leadership Conference
    • IAAPA FEC Summit
    • Other sponsorship opportunities as available

Qualification, Knowledge, Skills Required:

  • College degree in business or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in sales, marketing and operations, preferably the last 5 years in trade show and conference sales and operations, marketing and management; experience with a top 100 U.S. trade show.   
  • Experience in managing budgets in excess of $5 million and good understanding of accounting practices and statistical trend analysis.
  • Leadership skills that foster team building environment.

  • Outstanding problem solving ability.

  • Computer proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).

ADA Specifications:

  • This position is primarily sedentary in the Orlando, FL HQ office with up to 40% overnight travel.
  • There are periods during conferences and shows where you will be required to walk and stand for long periods of time, bend and lift up to 45 pounds, and work weekends and after hours.
