Registered Nurse (RN) - Purpose of job
The direct care Registered Nurse (RN) provides basic leadership skills for assigned patients, collaborates with other departments and begins process of proactive thinking when implementing the plan of care. The RN serves as mentor to the staff nurse and ancillary personnel; receives mentoring from Staff Nurse II and III; and Patient Care Coordinator.
-Implements the nursing process. Collects and analyzes data and begins critical thinking process to make clinical judgments and formulate a plan of care for routine patients.
-Uses research and evidence-based practice to gain proficiency in the care of complex patients.
-Identifies need for and participates in the resolution of patient care and/or unit issues.
-Participates in process improvement activities. Identifies and communicates need for an improvement process.
-Seeks opportunities for advanced education specific to patient population and professional role development.
-Demonstrates an awareness of patient/family individuality and cultural beliefs; individualizes care within established practice guidelines.
-Demonstrates competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the age-specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department.
-Appropriately adapts assigned patient assessment, treatment and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific and other developmental needs of each patient served.
-Minimum of one-year experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) required.
-Verification of course completion in accordance with all American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support and Health Care Provider guidelines is required.
- Degree in nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) highly preferred.
-Must have basic computer skills. Must have skill and working knowledge of all equipment pertinent to the assigned area.
-Current Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Board of Nurse Examiners of the State of Texas to practice as a registered nurse is required.
-Must have a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider or AHA BLS Instructor Provider card.
-Must also successfully complete the pre-employment/post job offer health screening examination.
-Currently we have opportunities available for Registered Nurses (RN’s) in the following specialties: Emergency Room (ER), Intensive Care (ICU), Pediatric Care, and Transplant.
-Currently available are Full-Time and Part-Time positions with the following available shifts:
Day shift, night shift, rotating shifts.
