PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER

HAMPTON, VIRGINIA

An established and successful Texas based Workforce Solutions Company is accepting applications for a full time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide services to our military and their families.  The position offers a great opportunity to gain and/or enhance valuable work experience.  The position offers an opportunity to work within the federal employment system.

JOB FUNCTIONS (INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO)

  • Provide a full range of NP services in accordance with privileges granted by the credentials committee
  • Interviews patients and/or significant others to obtain and record clear, logical, and concise psychiatric and health history.
  • Develops treatment plan that set goals to meet, identify mental health needs, evaluates responses to intervention, reviews treatment plans and re-evaluates as necessary
  • Provides psychiatric/mental health care to patients, and their families, through crisis intervention, individual, group, and family therapy
  • Prescribes medication from the approved facility formulary. Instructs patients in the proper use, side effects, and efficacy of prescribed medications within the scope of practice

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a minimum of one year of work experience in mental health or psychiatric care for adults, individuals, families, couples, and group therapy
  • Graduate of an accredited Baccalaureate Degree program in Nursing (BSN)
  • Graduate of an accredited Master Degree program in Nursing (MSN)
  • Certified as a Psychiatric and Mental Health NP by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Maintains state licensure as an advance practice registered nurse
  • Basic Life Support—American Heart Association—Healthcare Provider
