Mail Assistant-Clerical Entry-Level
Work Location: Orient, OH

Job Summary/Description
The Mail Clerk-Messenger must possess Knowledge of agency & federal postal regulations & procedures; skill in operation of postage equipment; ability to sort items into categories according to established methods; understand mail room procedures; add, subtract, multiply & divide whole numbers; read common English vocabulary; complete routine forms or records; answer routine inquiries from co-workers & general public; stand, walk or bend continuously; lift up to 40 lbs.

Job Duties/Responsibilities/Functions (including but not limited to)
• Operate postage machines
• Process incoming and outgoing mail
• Distribute and pick-up contents to and from various offices
• Prepare UPS or express letters or packages
• Maintain records of postage used and volume of mail
• Answer inquiries from other employees and general public regarding US Postal regulations
• Load and unload trucks
• Inventory and distribute supplies
• Stuff envelopes, create labels, fold documents, and staple materials
• Photocopy documents
• Make service calls and assist in repair and maintenance of machines
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Possess verbal and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with colleagues, receivers, and the management
• Prefer full working knowledge of mailroom operations including mail, shipping and receiving, postage equipment, and courier services
• Computer literacy in word processing and database programs is required
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Knowledge of agency and federal postal regulations and procedures
• Ability to sort items into categories according to established methods
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., stand, walk, and/or bend continuously
