Credentialing Specialist
Work Location: San Antonio, TX

Job Summary/Description
The Credentialing Specialist performs all functions related to the credentialing and re-credentialing process for physicians and allied health personnel in accordance with company contracts and internal policies.
Job Duties/Responsibilities/Functions (including but not limited to)
• Collection of all pertinent information necessary for verification of physicians and allied health credentials through a variety of primary sources as appropriate.
• Analyze provider files for completeness, accuracy, consistency, gaps in work history, education, hospital privileges, relevant references, etc.
• Ensure files meet Joint Commission and other regulatory agency credentialing requirements and company policies.
• Input provider data into the credentialing database and maintain database on a current basis in accordance with Joint Commission and company policies.
• Provide information to department staff or individual physicians as necessary by reporting from database system.
• Communicate consistently with providers and provider office staff to obtain and verify information and communicate status of files with internal and external customers.
• Serve as a resource to both healthcare providers and company staff regarding the credentialing process.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma required
• Some college preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
