With general supervision, administers and monitors treatment or research protocols. Instructs and counsels patients in research procedures, administers treatment procedures, monitors patients during procedures, and records and analyzes data. Reviews goals and requirements of any new protocols; plans and designs source documentation for protocol. Will report to the Clinical Research Nurse Supervisor. As assigned, provides direct support to, and may receive day-to-day supervision from faculty principal investigators and other departmental personnel engaged in research or scholarly activities. Occasional travel within the metropolitan area to meet with organizational representatives, and on selected projects, engage in duties at collaborative sites such as SAMMC. Out-of-town travel for conferences and presentations is required.
Associates degree with a current Texas RN license and three years nursing experience in the designated study area.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field is preferred.
Current permit or license to practice professional nursing in Texas, with three (3) experience as a Registered Nurse in hospital, nursing or in an ambulatory clinic is required.
Emergency nursing or acute care nursing experience preferred.
Working experience must include at least one (1) year in a research capacity.
Strong technical skills in bedside nursing with relevant experience in acute care nursing preferred.
Strong technical skills in clinical research with relevant experience in clinical trials and grant- or industry-funded studies. Research experience in emergency department settings preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to include the ability to generate high quality technical writing and written and oral presentations within the incumbent's scope of work.
Ability to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment and capable of self-direction with long periods of indirect supervision.
