QA Engineer (Backend) 

Redwood City. CA

IMVU is looking to expand its rapidly growing engineering team with an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to join our back-end development team. The QA team is an integral part of the IMVU development culture and the ideal candidate will play a vital role in collaborating with developers, product managers, and the rest of the QA team. 

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working as a Quality Assurance Engineer.

  • Experience creating API automation tests using Karate or Rest-Assured framework.

  • Basic knowledge of Javascript.

  • Experience using git, developer tools.

  • Comfortable with both manual testing and writing automated test scripts.

  • Familiar with Rest API clients such as Insomnia, Postman, SOAPUI.

  • Experience using collaboration and productivity tools such as Jira, Confluence, TestRail.

  • Able to think big-picture, across multiple platforms (iOS, Android, Desktop, Web).

  • Results-oriented with high attention to detail.

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.


  • Write effective test cases from the requirements document.

  • Execute manual test cases using rest clients such as Insomnia or Postman.

  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, project managers, and other QA engineers.

  • Write and maintain automation test scripts in Karate framework.

  • Run regression tests for a release cycle.

  • File, track, verify bugs and work with developers to reproduce and explain issues.

  • File, track, verify improvements in Jira, always working toward improving user experience.

  • Willing to execute some frontend manual test cases from time to time.

  • Able to context switch between different projects.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of one of the programming languages - Java, C#.

  • Experience using JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber framework, Selenium.

  • Experience with iOS/Android automation.

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
