AR Application Engineer - iOS

Redwood City, CA

We are seeking colleagues in the WithMe Labs Group at IMVU, who will be responsible for the development and maintenance of mobile applications that include AR, VR, Geolocation, and computer vision. This person will have a highly influential role working alongside fellow engineers and designers across the technology stack, and has a track record that demonstrates a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and shipping quality products.


  • Work with a cross-functional team of 3D artists, engineers, and designers to build new AR experiences on iOS

  • Optimize mobile applications on the iOS platform

  • Develop applications that can mature from prototypes to a large global audience

  • Write code that is well-structured for efficient team collaboration

  • Integrate computer vision, 3D engine, and AR frameworks into a responsive, performant, and stable application


  • At least three years of professional software development experience

  • High-aptitude with Object-Oriented Programming

  • Proficiency with CocoaTouch, UIKit, CoreImage, CoreGraphics, AVFoundation, CALayer

  • Proficiency with App Extensions, Social Framework, MapKit, Location Services

  • Proficient fluency  in Objective-C and/or Swift

  • Proficiency with XCode and xcbuild

  • Proficiency working with GCD, Storyboards, and Autolayout

  • Experience with RESTful APIs expressed in JSON

  • Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance optimization

  • Experience with profiling tools

  • Proficiency with git

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with image processing and computer vision (OpenCV, Vuforia, dlib, ARKit, Vision.framework, CoreML)

  • Experience with 3D game engines, 3D graphics development, OpenGL, Metal, Vulcan, HLSL, GLSL shaders

  • Experience with SceneKit, SpriteKit, libGDX, Ogre3D, Godot, Havoc, or Urho3D

  • Proficiency with CoreData and/or Realm

  • Experience with make, cmake, shell scripting

  • Experience with FACS
