Job Description

This position provides engineering support to the development of an automated Flight Termination System (FTS) system for a rocket that is the cornerstone of an exciting space program in the new era of human exploration beyond Earth’s orbit. This position supports the development and integration of FTS hardware, such as flight termination controllers, navigation devices, and Radio Frequency (RF) components. Responsibilities can include supporting component testing, conducting system analyses, analyzing test and vendor data, verifying requirements, coordinating with the NASA customer, developing and maintaining documentation, and resolving issues. The candidate will work with other FTS engineers to develop the system and ensure the design meets requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience engineering aerospace systems
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Hardware Engineering
  • Flight Termination System experience
  • Electrical analysis experience, e.g., sneak circuit, bent pin, battery capacity, electrical compatibility
  • Knowledge of rocket launch safety requirements, e.g., RCC-319, RCC-324, AFSPCMAN 91-710
  • Experience with the systems engineering and integration process, from requirements development through product deployment
  • Active DoD Secret clearance

Location - Huntsville, AL. Some travel expected (roughly once per quarter) to component suppliers, test sites, and NASA centers.
