POSITION PURPOSE

As our new Commercial Manager aligned to the Technology portfolio that supports our largest division (being our Student Placement division), you will be responsible for managing all the commercial aspects of the portfolio including monthly financial performance reporting, vendor/contract management, budgets & forecasting and value delivery/ROI tracking.
The Commercial Manager - Student Placement Product Portfolio is both hands on in the monthly detail of IDP’s spend on technology-enabled portfolio and platform investments and value measurement, and able to focus on higher-level commercial and financial operational constructs managing how these investments deliver value to the IDP Student Placement business.
Many of the responsibilities of the Student Placement Commercial Manager overlap with the Technology Business Manager. The SP Commercial Manager is focused on delivering these overlapping responsibilities into the Student Placement business line, whereas the Technology Business Manager is across the entire enterprise.
This is a full-time permanent opportunity based out of Melbourne.
Reporting to the head of Group Technology Management, responsibilities will include;
- Managing and reporting on the financial performance-to-plan of the portfolio and providing detailed variance analysis and commentary
- Managing the annual planning and budgeting process for the portfolio
- Providing heightened financial support in ensuring compliance with all CAPEX, OPEX reporting and for ensuring all internal controls are in place.
- Undertaking detailed business modelling, research and analysis to aid decision making
Contributing to the broader Technology Management and Finance groups in the pursuit of capability uplift and continuous improvement.
About you
This role should appeal to someone who is interested in applying their strong financial & commercial acumen to support decision making on how technology-led investments are made, delivered and accounted for! Specifically, we are looking for a talented individual who has;
- Strong financial and commercial skills with previous experience in financial management for a technology function or a technology centric organisation.
- Outstanding stakeholder relationship skills and the ability to navigate a complex, matrixed organisation
- Extensive experience in budgeting, planning, forecasting and monthly performance reporting.
- Previous experience in contract/vendor financial management
Familiarity with large, global organisations with significant technology investment.
