POSITION PURPOSE

Singapore Assistant Finance Manager/Finance Lead will be primarily responsible for general financial accounting, tax, statutory, routine transactional finance and selected admin tasks for the IDP Education Limited Singapore Branch plus 3 smaller regional & global office management entities.

The role will also be tasked with involvement in process improvement and exposure to management reporting and analysis.

The role works closely with Singapore Country Director (CD), Regional Finance Controller, Singapore management team and offshore Finance Shared Services (FSS) to fulfil duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting Operations (50%)

  • Ownership of month end close process working closely with FSS
  • Perform Payments/Accounts Payable (AP) process based on SAP Ariba and Concur
  • Leading banking activities including funding, banking portal maintenance and credit card controlling
  • Ownership of expense claims reimbursement process:
  • Manage and run in-house payroll
  • Lifecycle asset control
  • Documentation of Singapore branch accounting operations processes
  • Support CD and Regional Finance to review Singapore operations SP revenue trends and billing activity
  • Control of balance sheet items (including reconciliation review)
  • Adhoc reconciliation and data checking

Compliance (20%)

  • Ownership of Singapore branch and small entity financial audit, financial statements preparation and submission process
  • All local Singapore branch tax matters including but not limited to GST, annual tax returns, ECI and employee yearly tax submissions
  • Lead Singapore branch company secretarial activities such as ACRA, MOM or other liaison/submissions

Financial Reporting & Analysis (25%)

  • Support CD with budgeting, forecasting and reporting – by providing reports, consolidation and selected analysis as directed by the country leadership team / regional team
  • Analyze current and past trends, and also against budget and forecast in key performance indicators including sales volume, revenue, direct costs, operating expenses, capital expenditure to forecast the company performance in the future.
  • Tracking forecasting for accuracy and to build culture of continuous forecast improvement amongst local finance and operational teams
  • Perform timely and analysis monthly of financial statements, variance analysis and compile commentary for CD and regional finance.
  • Support the finance portion of ASCENT REPORT and compile the ASCENT Report for the CD
  • Recommend process improvement for efficient, accurate and timely reporting.

Other Duties (5%)

  • Assist local and regional management with preparing finance-related information required for business presentations
  • Support local finance systems projects implementation / improvement – co-ordinate, support, participate, document, process map.
  • Providing guidance and support to improve local finance processes and practices. Involvement in managing adhoc financial activities e.g. audits, revenue Departments
  • Providing finance related cross-functional guidance and support to improve or launch local or regional operations processes and practices.
  • Undertake any other ad-hoc duties as directed by the CD / RFC

  • Bachelor’s degree - additional certifications in Finance / Accounting a bonus; with minimum 5 of experience
