Director of Revenue Accounting

Salaried Exempt

 

As Director of Revenue Accounting for one of IAC's subsidiary companies, you will be responsible for overseeing the companies revenue recognition process.  This includes the calculation and management of all of the Company’s various revenue streams in accordance with GAAP as well as ensuring compliance with company policies and SOX.  You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining revenue accounting procedures, completing deferred revenue reconciliations, rollforwards and other ad-hoc analysis as requested by senior management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Complete month-end close deliverables in a timely and accurate manner to meet tight deadlines which include the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations for all deferred revenue accounts, analysis between forecasted revenue and actual results and testing of our internal revenue process to ensure that revenue accounting is accurate and complete
  • Review and document complex, multi-element customer agreements to ensure consistent application of revenue recognition policies in accordance with relevant accounting literature and corporate policy
  • Oversee the accounts receivable process to confirm that invoicing is in line with the contract deliverables
  • Ensure the accounts receivable objectives and metrics are met and ensure allowance for bad debts is adequate
  • Review bundled products and licensing agreements to determine proper revenue treatment and perform VSOE/BESP analysis for multiple element arrangements
  • Analyze and understand various service/product offerings and revenue/expense streams to ensure proper revenue recognition and financial system set-up
  • Evaluate the current revenue recognition system and propose an alternative solution that will improve reporting capabilities and effectiveness while mitigating risk
  • Develop, implement and maintain SOX compliant processes and procedures for accurate and timely revenue recognition for multiple element arrangements
  • Ability to multi-task, work successfully under pressure, and effectively prioritize and manage time and workload to meet business needs
  • Support the growth and development of 3-4 direct reports
  • Support various special projects as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in accounting and/or finance is required
  • Three to five years of experience in public accounting is preferred
  • Revenue recognition experience, including multiple element arrangements, of at least 3 years is required
  • Strong conceptual understanding of GAAP accounting standards
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel for analyzing large amounts of data, including knowledge of pivots and V-lookups
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical skills and interest in identifying and fixing problems
  • Experience within a multi-company, multi-state environment is a plus
  • Ability to recommend and implement changes to improve processes and mitigate risk
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
