Job Description

DevOps Engineer

Arlington, Virginia, United States · Product & Engineering · 22209

LiveSafe is looking for a meticulous DevOps engineer to join our team. The LiveSafe platform is a robust 24/7/365 cloud-based system and we are searching for someone to join our team with strong experience supporting deployment of production SaaS platforms. You will create cloud formation templates to build AWS services that support our custom Scala/Akka and legacy PHP applications. You’ll need to cover the whole stack from APIs to data stores, from local dev rigs up to the deployment of the app to production (we actually have a great start in place).

In this role, you'll work collaboratively with software engineering to deploy and operate our systems. Help automate and streamline our operations and processes. Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations, and troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test, and production environments.

  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration, understands the value of automation and infrastructure as code
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using Docker, Puppet, Chef or an equivalent
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS required)
  • Strong experience with SQL (MySQL), NoSQL experience is a plus, too, since we also use Cassandra and Dynamo
  • A working understanding of code and script (PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby)
  • Maker that does not relent until finding an elegant and practical solution to a problem
  • Unix master that thrives in a social atmosphere and actively contributes to improving processes, workflows, and communication
  • Person who cares deeply that your work realizes positive outcomes for our world

  • 401K + match
  • Fantastic health, dental, and vision
  • Great new office space overlooking the National Cathedral and walking distance to District Taco
  • Choose your own rig and tools
  • Early stage equity
  • Free drinks and healthy snacks
  • Flexible hours and ability to work remotely when appropriate
  • Coworkers are passionate about safety (and darts)
