Director of Human Resources

Humacyte, Inc., a biotechnology pioneer, discovers, develops and delivers innovative, award winning human biotherapies.  We are currently developing multiple vascular tissue engineered therapies and expanding our business model.  With a broad pipeline of potential new therapy applications, we continue to build our organization and scientific teams.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Implement human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance
  • Maintain employee benefits programs and inform employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommend benefit programs to management; direct the processing of benefit claims; obtain and evaluate benefit contract bids; award benefit contracts
  • Administer various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; maintain employee handbook
  • Implement and maintain best practices in all levels of HR and ensure all policies and procedures are in line with Humacyte’s Vision, Values, and Leadership Behavior’s
  • Oversee all aspects of employment law and employee relations, including all investigations, disciplinary procedures and terminations, to ensure they comply with employment law and corporate policy
  • Manage the effective delivery of daily HR requirements
  • Promote and manage employee communications to an extremely high standard
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization with management and employees to be an effective listener and problem solver of people issues
  • Develop a multi-year strategy for building and attracting talent
  • Help implement leadership development program
  • Help analyze talent needs for workforce effectiveness
  • Administer 401(k) retirement programs
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by staying current on existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
  • Continually assess the competitiveness of all programs and practices against relevant comparable companies, industries and markets
  • Update job requirements and job descriptions for all positions as needed
  • Hear and resolve employee grievances and counsel employees and supervisors while mitigating risk to the organization
  • Manage all immigration issues, working closely with outside immigration counsel
  • Conduct interval business reviews, ensuring that HR metrics and service level agreements are met
  • Manage costs and expenditures efficiently and smartly within budgeted guidelines
  • Proficiency in the following software: MS Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; intermediate user of Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop staff

Requirements:

  • Experience with ADP or other HRIS system

  • Previous small team management or leadership required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration preferred

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in human resources

  • One of the following designations required, SHRM, HRCI, MPHR or SPHR

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of insurance regulations, plan designs and third-party record keeping/administration required
