Position Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team in Eastern North Carolina as the Assistant Community Engagement Manager. This position will be responsible for providing support to the community engagement team, maintenance of the warehouse and receiving and shipping of all goods. This individual also coordinates and facilitates meal packaging events, including training and supervising work of the volunteers.  Position ensures adequate supply of materials, cleanliness of warehouse and timely shipment of outgoing food product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in program promotion by delivering presentations to religious congregations, civic organizations, schools and other groups
  • Facilitate a brief educational program on hunger for meal packaging volunteers
  • Train volunteers on packaging procedures and adjust volunteer assignments as needed for each event
  • Track and record volunteer service hours, communication with constituents and status of meal shipments from warehouse
  • Collect donations and funds raised at each event
  • Ensure all documentation is processed and maintained including invoices, bills of lading, and receipts of order
  • Load and unload raw materials, packaged meals, equipment and supplies by hand, pallet jack and forklift
  • Package finished product for shipping: shrink wrap, box, label and palletized
  • Ensure that warehouse facilities meet health and sanitation regulations
  • Clean and organize warehouse and all equipment, perform maintenance on equipment
  • Monitor and record inventory of raw ingredients, equipment and meals shipped
  • Order raw ingredients, equipment and supplies as needed
  • Transport raw materials to satellite packaging locations on a weekly basis and facilitate set-up of equipment and other materials 

Necessary Skills

  • Flexibility: willing to handle diverse tasks from warehouse cleaning to giving presentations
  • Current valid driver’s license and clean driving record, commercial vehicle license a plus
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule including frequent weekends and some evenings
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills, comfortable speaking in front of large groups
  • Ability to lift from 50 pounds up to 75 pounds and move pallets weighing up to 2,500 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in non-climate controlled warehouse

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of inventory management and requisition procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, database and internet software
