Summary:

Horizon is seeking a Production Supervisor with both dry plant manufacturing experience and supervisory skills. The Production Supervisor will be accountable for production, quality, and maintenance-related items while working within budget and supervising a team of up to 25 personnel to ensure production and quality objectives are met in accordance with the company’s standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise employees, assigning job tasks as necessary for the successful manufacture of product.
  • Perform scheduling and coordination with both the Plant Manager and/or Assistant Plant Manager to ensure production deadlines are met.
  • In the absence of the Plant Manager and/or Assistant Plant Manager, perform all duties to include but not limited to inventory analysis, flash reporting, business accounting, safe work initiatives and environmental compliance.
  • Follow and enforce all rules and procedures established by Horizon Ag Products for the safe and efficient operation of production equipment and machinery.
  • Ensure compliance with the EHSSQ (Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, Quality) policy and educate employees on company policies and procedures and enforces the same.
  • Train and develop employees in dry bulk product handling operation. Interpret and issues job orders and assign duties to employees per operating standards.
  • Assist employees in the troubleshooting and correcting malfunctioning mechanical systems.
  • Purchase supplies and equipment as directed in accordance with Horizon Ag-Products purchasing policies.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product handling.
  • Execute safety, quality, and environmental inspections as directed and in accordance with relevant permits or processes.
  • Recommend changes to aspects of the operation to produce safer work processes, cost savings, and efficiencies.
  • Analyze and resolve operational problems or assist employees in solving work problems.
  • Approve payroll and overtime documentation in coordination with Plant Manager/Assistant Plant Manager.
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring, and training of plant employees.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Must be capable and willing to act in a leadership role as well as direct the operations in accordance with the company's business plan, mission, and values.
  • Understanding of dry goods bulk handling operations is preferred but not required.
  • Lean Six Sigma background and training or willingness to learn a plus.
  • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience coordinating and implementing capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects is a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency level in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and other Office Suite general products.
  • Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including but not limited to the ability to present ideas, proposals, and results to management and customers.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work and include long and short-term projects into day-to-day execution.
  • Project management skills and experience are preferred.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks successfully and simultaneously in a constantly changing environment, and work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to understand how corporate policies, procedures, practices, and processes related to the operations of this facility.
  • Ability to work with a team, take direction from manager(s), high degree of attention to details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules.
  • Must have the ability to train employees in subjects related to the operation of the equipment, industry, and business.
  • Ability to identify and establish expectations in an employee/employer relationship and coach employees in achieving goals.
  • Must have strong leadership, communication, motivation, and interpersonal skills that include working with individuals from varying disciplines, backgrounds, and experience levels.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis.
  • Must have experience successfully leading a team.
  • Service mindset is a must.

Education and Work Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree and/or several years supervisory experience preferred.
