Summary: 

This position is responsible for the overall maintenance of the manufacturing processes at our Cuba, NM plant.  The operations include the following processes: crushing, screening/sorting/sifting, material handling, drying, compacting/pelletizing, coating, bulk load out and packaging.  Overall responsibilities include innovative problem solving of plant issues, maximizing production efficiency, equipment and process engineering, effective and clear communications, maintenance and repair project management, continual process improvement, preventive maintenance, and maintenance monitoring of equipment.   

Essential Skills: 

  • Meet Dry Manufacturing quality control specifications of mined raw-material and finished product.  

  • Project Management for Expansions, Renovation and New Plant Development Projects.  

  • Participation in maintaining the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), spare parts, and critical equipment program for the entire plant.  

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) projects from planning, through implementation and operation.  

  • Ensure maintenance projects are in full regulatory compliance with all local, state, and federal laws including Environmental and Mining Safety & Health Administration (MSHA). Ensure safe work environments by following safety policy and safe work practices.  

  • Timely and accurate completion of reporting, administrative and meeting preparation duties.

 Qualifications & Requirements: 

 

  • Education:  BS degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field. 

  • Minimum of at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or process engineering with emphasis on Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement for a manufacturing operation focused on dry materials.  

  • Ability to demonstrate examples of success in process improvement and production outflow.  

  • Must be highly mechanically inclined and desire to be hands on. 

  • Problem solver with ability to create solutions to the challenges within in a mid-sized, growing manufacturing environment. 

  • Demonstrated capability of meeting deadlines and able to operate in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to other Horizon Ag Products multi-state locations. 

  • Project management skills, communication skills, team-based manufacturing, quality assurance, results oriented. 

  • A working knowledge of the following is also essential: operations, engineering methods and costing, Maintenance and Quality Assurance. 

 Preferred Qualifications/Experience: 

  • Experience in Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Quality and Safety within a manufacturing facility or multiple facilities.  

  • Strong Project Management experience. 

  • Lean Manufacturing experience.
