About the Job:

The purpose of the VP of Construction is to oversee the project management team handling construction and build-out of Holistic’s grow & processing and dispensary facilities. The position will be responsible for ensuring all construction projects are properly completed and managing a seamless transition to the appropriate operating department. 

  • Maintain all appropriate documentation relating to all components of the project – budget, contracts, bid process, construction, and close-out. 

  • Provide project details and technical support in preparing materials for potential sale/leaseback partners, lenders, and joint venture partners, if applicable. 

  • Maintain cost records during the project, including, but not limited to, cashflow, design costs, and construction costs, and regularly update project budgets.  

  • Review, approve and submit for payment all invoices relating to the project. 

  • Review and analyze all change orders during project, and make recommendations for approval or denial. 

  • Provide summary reports regarding projects. 

  • Bid out projects to multiple designers to get the best expertise and pricing available. 

  • Manage the design process from the beginning of engagement through the end of the project, working with the various constituencies to get buy-in for the design, cost, timing, etc. for the project. 

  • Review progress of design throughout the design period, make recommendations, suggestions, and comments. 

  • Work with contractors to establish preliminary pro-forma development costs used in evaluating the project to verify project feasibility, to update and refine the pro-forma as the project progresses, and to make recommendations for value engineering and other modifications where appropriate. 

  • Assist with expediting the permit process. Collaborate and serve as liaison with local and state government officials as required. 

  • Develop and manage the RFP process for Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E). 

  • Coordinate the design and selection of FF&E to meet budget. 

  • Help determine what existing FF&E can be reused. 

  • Communicate requirements to architect for inclusion of FF&E in construction documents. 

  • Coordinate schedule for installation of FF&E. 

  • Coordinate with Technology department to understand the communication systems plan. 

  • Support RFP process for tele/data cabling as directed by Technology department. 

  • Communicate technology requirements to architect for inclusion in the construction documents. 

  • Coordinate schedule for installation of cabling and IT equipment. 

  • Understand audio-visual (AV) requirements, support RFP process for identified AV systems, communicate requirements to architect for inclusion in construction documents, and coordinate schedule for AV system installation. 

  • Support RFP process for all required security systems. 

  • Communicate requirements to architect for inclusion in construction documents. 

  • Coordinate schedule for installation of security system. 

  • Bid out the project to multiple contractors to get the best pricing available. 

  • Work to identify contractors and make recommendations for their approval. 

  • Attend the bid walkthrough and work with contractors to prepare bid addendums as required. 

  • Review and analyze contractor bids when received and make recommendations on contractor selection. 

  • Review contractor’s proposed subcontractor list. 

  • Prepare a final budget for review and sign off upon completion of bidding process. 

  • Monitor and observe general construction progress and procedures. 

  • Review and monitor the quality of work along with the projects’ construction schedules and budgets. 

  • Resolve timeline or scheduling issues that arise during construction. 

  • Monitor the schedule during construction and communicate updates as necessary. 

  • Coordinate, monitor, and supervise all contractor and vendor activities. 

  • Schedule and attend construction progress meetings with contractors, architects, designers, and other vendors as necessary to discuss procedures, progress, issues, and scheduling. 

  • Stay involved with all projects from groundbreaking to Certificate of Occupancy (CO); address any warranty-related issues that arise after CO but during warranty coverage period 

  • Schedule with the contractor, architects/engineers, and Holistic personnel as necessary for the final walkthrough and monitor the preparation of the punch list. 

  • Monitor and ensure completion of all punch list items.

  • Other duties as assigned, or any reasonable request from any member of management 

  • Physical Requirements of the Job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform reaching, grasping, lifting, walking, standing, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. 

    May include walking or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching. Ability to tolerate moderate to loud exposure to noise level. Exposure to long periods of bright lights. Long periods of prolonged use of office equipment including computers and phones. 

About You:  


  • Due to state regulations, qualified candidates for this position must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check – certain criminal convictions may disqualify candidates based on state medical marijuana licensing regulations.


  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred  

  • At least 5 years of experience in industrial or commercial construction management is required 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint 

  • Professional demeanor, strong work ethic  

  • Able to maintain confidentiality 

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment 

  • Must possess excellent analytical, presentation and writing skills to review contract documents and prepare and present technical approaches.
