About the Job:

Based in our new NYC marketing office, this skilled social media guru and communicator with a deep understanding of social voice, tone, style and creative storytelling is a key part of our marketing team.  This role requires a detailed understanding of publishing tools, analytics tools and social marketing technology as well as all native platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and beyond). Our Social Media Manager must able to demonstrate a clear ability to develop tactics and campaigns that drive the business goals: audience growth, engagement, reach, maintenance, churn mitigation and more. A knowledge of the cannabis industry and its complex marketing & advertising regulations is preferred, but not required. This role will be responsible for maintaining Holistic Industries current social media accounts, building brand presence, creating dynamic content, engaging our customers and facilitating customer service issues.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Build and implement social media programs that ensure appropriate messaging is executed online to support corporate goals using channels including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube and other emerging social media platforms in accordance with a content calendar.

  • Develop and post content to social media sites that is compliant with state regulations as well as Facebook and Instagram community standards

  • Create unique and compelling content that drives brand awareness of Holistic Industries brands across social media platforms

  • Develop tactics, plans, partnerships, tools, and agencies that help achieve the business goals

  • Maintain relationships with external agencies/design teams to brief and manage original content for distribution.

  • Launch, grow and manage channels where relevant ensuring milestones are set and met.

  • Execute social media publishing strategies ensuring that all posts are accurate, punctual, safe, adhere to State regulations, and on brand.

  • Manage daily social communication, consumer listen and response, sentiment analysis and inquiries.

  • Work on strategic partnership opportunities with Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc. to deliver the business goals

  • Report on campaigns and augment based on analysis to ensure the most effective approach.

  • Work with each retail store and provide content for store-specific Facebook pages.

  • Monitor and engage in brand related online conversations.

  • Respond to all social media questions, comments, and direct messages in a timely and appropriate manor while providing best in class customer service.

  • Regularly analyze social media insights to make marketing optimizations

  • Develop monthly reports focusing on core insights and learnings that will be delivered and monitored by the executive marketing team

  • Identify new social media trends and platforms while working with the marketing team to determine strategy 


  • May include walking or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching. Long periods of sitting.  Long periods of screen use. Moderate to loud exposure to noise level. Some travel for event participation. Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 30 pounds when assisting with photo shoots and/or events.

About You

  • Due to state regulations, qualified candidates for this position must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a fingerprinting background check – certain criminal convictions may disqualify candidates based on state medical marijuana licensing regulations.


  • Bachelors Degree in communication, marketing or similar preferred.

  • 3+ years of social media marketing campaign management, publishing, editorial, content creation and distribution required (in-house or agency).

  • Detailed knowledge and expertise around all social platforms.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and planning skills with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Proficient in developing social marketing strategies that are native to individual channels and demonstrate tangible ROI.

  • Good understanding of how brands can participate in social media in an authentic way.

  • Expert understanding of internet, social and meme culture and how to credibly and sensitively work within it whilst maintaining brand safety.

  • Ability to successfully organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects under strict deadlines.

  • A passion for working in a fast-paced environment with low level of supervision and high level of teamwork

  • Ability to collect, analyze and use social data to affect change.

  • Familiarity with social calendars like Hootsuite.

  • Familiarity with Photoshop or InDesign.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Technical knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, metrics and tracking.

  • Project management and organization skills.

  • Understanding of or open to learning about cannabis culture in both the medical and recreational markets.

  • Understanding of Facebook rules and regulations with cannabis.

  • Great work ethic.
