About the Job:
The Retail Market Director will work directly with General Managers of dispensaries to develop and carry out operational practices and sales objectives to help ensure each retail location operates effectively and maximizes projected revenue goals and sales estimates, all while maintaining a positive company image. They will have a focus on building productive customers’ relations. Overall, this role will have a focus on each location’s day-to-day operations and will carry out new and current company policies and guidelines, as well as achieve store and company sales and marketing goals. The Retail Market Director also serves as the key link between the company and all assigned state level trade associations.
Assess and report to senior management, ways to improve customer experience and drive store and/or market growth.
Develop and oversee business forecasting strategies to drive store KPIs for results that maximize performance and achievement of sales plans and goals.
Work directly with senior management on product development, pricing and other strategic operational issues.
Assist in meeting operational goals
Staff and management training
Communicate clear expectations for holding each location accountable in achieving all brand and performance standards.
Ensure daily operations are executed profitably and in a manner that is in compliance to market and industry regulations.
Hold each location and Dispensary Director accountable for following current company policies and SOPs.
Hold consistent store visit assessments and provide proactive, valuable feedback in regard to performance, personnel, visual merchandising, operations and business initiatives.
Optimize and maintain strong Visual Merchandising
Maintain extensive knowledge of product assortment and key items sold
Analyze, identify and execute opportunities for increasing revenue and profitability
Knowledge of current industry trends and competitor strategies in the market
Ensure visual directives are executed within scheduled time frame and allotted payroll budget
Physical Requirements of the Job:
Constant use of both hands and arms in reaching, handling, grasping, and/or fingering while using phone and computer keyboard, writing notes and/or reports, performing other administrative tasks, operating equipment and/or machinery.
Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with others, and view computer monitors; includes hand/eye coordination to properly and safely operate equipment.
Reading, writing, understanding, and clearly speaking English; constant use of speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) in communicating with others in person and by phone, giving and receiving instructions.
Working in an office environment with artificial lighting.
Frequent travel by car, train, and/or airplane.
Occasionally working in warehouse environment with exposure to marijuana plants and grow chemicals.
Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while performing all work tasks.
Extensive time using a computer screen and keyboard.
Due to state regulations, qualified candidates for this position must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check – certain criminal convictions may disqualify candidates based on state medical marijuana licensing regulations.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or related fields preferred
7+ years of retail management
Experience in complex, fast-paced store environments
Proven ability to manage teams effectively
Solid understanding of store economics and ability to interpret and act on store KPI data
Experience in the cannabis industry
Must be 21 years of age
Inventory software and online retail ordering
Proficient in Microsoft Office
