About the Job:

The Human Resources Generalist is the first point of contact for front-line employees regarding Human Resources (HR) issues. The position delivers HR service that reflects and supports the business objectives of the organization. The HR Generalist will seek to foster a workplace that upholds Holistic Industries’ aim to be the Best Place to Work, Shop, and Invest in Cannabis, by providing world-class customer service, focusing on the professional development of staff, and creating an empowering work environment.

  • First point of contact for all front-line employees regarding HR issues

  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to Retail General Managers, Grow/Processing heads, and their hiring managers for all HR issues (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)

  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation

  • Onboard new hires and facilitate new hire orientation

  • Create and maintain human resources files, including personnel files, I-9s, etc.

  • Oversees and executes unemployment and workers' compensation cases

  • Create, update, and retrieve any ad hoc reporting as needed

  • Coordinate with hiring managers on new hires and communicate onboarding details to new hires

  • Assist in maintaining and updating personal and employment information in HRIS system

  • Manages and resolves employee relations issues

  • Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations

  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity, retention, succession planning, and workforce planning

  • Attends weekly meetings with management, providing HR guidance when appropriate

  • Comply with all policies and procedures established by Holistic Industries management

  • Understand and adhere to all state or commonwealth cannabis regulations and any other applicable federal, state, and/or local regulations

  • Foster a workplace that upholds Holistic Industries’ aim to be the Best Place to Work, Shop, and Invest in Cannabis

  • Other duties as assigned, or any reasonable request from any member of management

  • Physical Requirements of the Job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, lifting up to 25 lbs., walking, standing, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. May include walking or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching. Ability to tolerate moderate to loud exposure to noise level. Exposure to long periods of bright lights. Long periods of prolonged use of office equipment including computers and phones.

About You:  


  • Due to state regulations, qualified candidates for this position must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check – certain criminal convictions may disqualify candidates based on state marijuana licensing regulations.


  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • 3+ years of experience working with Human Resources disciplines

Technological Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Professional demeanor, strong work ethic

  • Able to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, policies, practices, and the administrative processes related to those factors

  • Must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines

  • Must be able to frequently prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting
