About the Job:
The Director of Compliance will oversee and execute the Company’s compliance program, planning and carrying out all activities required to maintain regulatory compliance in all Company facilities. The position will be responsible for directing the development of the Company’s Standard Operating Procedures and facility-related policies, maintaining internal systems that guide all facilities to achieve the highest level of compliance. The position will also lead necessary training at Company facilities.
Develop and conduct compliance reviews, assessments, analyses, and other business engagement activities within established frameworks to identify, track, and report on the remediation of compliance gaps
Create, maintain, and monitor compliance systems to ensure effectiveness
Create and maintain a third-party due diligence system
Provide leadership in Compliance department and throughout the Company
Develop and prepare meaningful reporting and tracking of compliance activities to enable effective communication to senior management and all facilities
Assist in the ongoing development and enhancement of the compliance program
Keep current on emerging compliance issues and trends
Monitor state and local laws and ensure compliance; create and implement updated documentation and processes as needed to reflect changes
Manage the renewal process for all licenses
Assist with and oversee compliance training needs in all departments and facilities
Supervise the submission of responses to state regulators by facilities
Develop and maintain relationships with state regulators
Create, maintain, improve, and track the Company’s standard operating procedures and policies in collaboration with Operations and Retail department leadership
Lead investigation and resolution into compliance concerns
Demonstrate high levels of personal and professional integrity while adhering to Company policies and procedures
Maintain highly accurate electronic and written records
Attend meetings to provide status updates and reports

Other duties as assigned, or any reasonable request from any member of management
Physical Requirements of the Job: May include walking or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching. Ability to tolerate moderate to loud exposure to noise level. Exposure to long periods of bright lights. Long periods of prolonged use of office equipment including computers and phones.
Due to state regulations, qualified candidates for this position must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check – certain criminal convictions may disqualify candidates based on state medical marijuana licensing regulations.
A Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree strongly preferred
At least 5 years of experience in a compliance, regulatory, or risk field is required
At least 5 years of experience supervising and managing others is strongly preferred
At least 2 years of experience managing compliance programs and processes and/or developing and conducting compliance gap or risk assessments is required
At least 1 year of experience in the cannabis industry is required
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
Strong project management skills
Professional demeanor, strong work ethic, and sound judgment
Ability to advise and influence behavior at all levels of the organization
Diligence, high attention to detail, and ability to work a highly-detailed project to completion
Ability to read, understand, and interpret applicable state and local laws and regulations and Company SOPs
Able to maintain extremely high level of confidentiality
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
