We are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer on a permanent full-time basis to join our Australian team based in either our Perth, Brisbane or Newcastle office. The role of the Applications Engineer will look after our MineProtect Safety Portfolio through providing site-based project delivery services and remote technical assistance to a growing range of clients in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

Specific Duties
- Deploy and upgrade MineProtect systems and work closely with our project managers for a successful delivery outcome
- Assist with installation, commissioning and supporting of Hexagon Mining’s MineProtect technology from the office and on site in remote locations
- Provide assistance to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on Hexagon Mining technology systems at customer mine sites
- Provide training, instruction and advice to our customers on the effective use and operation of our safety solutions in their operation
- Conduct pre-sales tasks including configuration testing and field trials
- Assist sales teams with technical expertise relating to sales proposals and other sales requirements
Major Areas of Responsibility
- To ensure Hexagon Mining technology systems at customer mine sites operate effectively and deliver tangible value to our customers mining operations
- Installing, configuring and commissioning Hexagon’s safety systems etc for new deployments and upgrades
- Identifying issues and opportunities for improvement with Hexagon Mining safety systems installed at customer mine sites and re-configuring systems as required
- Provide assistance to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on Hexagon Mining safety systems at customer mine sites
- Taking ownership and responsibility for customer issues and problems and seeing them through to resolution wherever possible
- Providing training to operators and other customer personnel in the use and operation of systems at client sites
- Preparing scoping and requirements documentation
- Preparing reports on the performance of the deployed solution at the client site and recommendations for improvements as required
- Communicating directly with customers and assisting Business Development and Account Managers with new opportunities and existing account relationships
- Utilising relationships developed with customers and other contacts to advise sales team of potential issues affecting customers as well as other opportunities for Hexagon Mining
- Maintain, enhance and adhere to Hexagon Mining documentation and reporting standards, systems and processes
- Compliance with Hexagon Mining’s Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures (and those of clients’ sites visited), participation in audits and compliance with instructions given in respect to the health and oneself and the safety of others
- Be available for on call for support as required (primarily escalations)
- Attend site and company meetings in person or remotely
- Attend trade shows as required in a technical capacity
- Facilitate client workshops
- Representing Hexagon Mining in a helpful, professional and courteous manner at all times
- Other duties as required from time to time.
Skills and Experience Required
- Keen interest in providing a superior level of customer service and support to our clients
- Willingness to learn new skills and be trained in Hexagon products
- Ability to work proactively with minimal supervision
- Ability to work effectively in a local and global team environment
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Software Engineering or related fields
- Experience with Linux OS and shell scripting
- Experience with scripting languages such as PHP, Perl or Python
- Knowledge of C++ OR Objective-C programming languages
- Experience with relational (PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server) or NoSQL databases (MongoDB)
- Experience working in the mining industry. Global experience desirable.
- Familiar with project delivery methodologies for the purpose of managing installations
- Desirable - Experience with wireless networks, switches and routing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
