Purpose of Position:
The primary purpose of the Quality Engineer role is to support the supply chain in ensuring the quality, manufacturing, and processes of mining systems products. This includes providing vendor quality assurance (QA) support as needed and contributing to the Training Program, as well as all aspects of the product build and development lifecycle. The role assumes full responsibility for the quality assurance of products delivered by the manufacturing team by actively coordinating and executing all testing activities. The Quality Engineer collaborates closely with engineering teams and other departments within the mining division to ensure all levels of testing are conducted to deliver a high-quality product. Additionally, this role will support the growth of the Quality department with a strong focus on enhancing the Training process.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Develops and implements process improvements to meet quality standards, performs feasibility studies and solves manufacturing problems
- Creates necessary documentation and aids in communication with personnel. Interface with the Supply chain, Purchasing and warehouse
- Establish appropriate metrics and analyze key performance indicators to support monitoring of quality system adequacy and effectiveness
- Identify quality issues in production processes and recommend solutions to improve product quality and performance
- Apply lean manufacturing culture to reduce waste in the company
- Identify and generate corrective actions for quality problems based on collected information
- Perform Root Cause Analyses using quality tools such as 8D's, 5 Whys, etc.
- Create and monitor internal quality alerts for quality assurance during production processes
- Improve and maintain training programs, as well as validate their effectiveness
- Research new manufacturing methods, equipment and other manufacturing technologies and make recommendations for implementation
- Create and maintain quality documentation, including inspection reports, quality metrics, and compliance records
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and support, to ensure quality standards are met throughout the product lifecycle
- Create and maintain Quality Management System to ensure compliance with regulations and standards
- Support all ISO related projects
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Knowledge and Experience - Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, industrial, or other engineering discipline or related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in quality engineering and/or quality assurance.
- In-depth knowledge of quality engineering techniques i.e. problem solving such as 8D, root causes analysis, 5 Whys, etc.
- Effective written and verbal English language communication skills.
- Experience in the high-tech manufacturing sector and broad knowledge of different manufacturing processes: injection molding, Machining, casting, SMT/PCBA, etc.
Proven Success Factors:
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills
- Fundamental knowledge of Quality Control Tools (Gage R&R, SPC, process capability, FMEA, DOE)
- Knowledge of Iso 9001 with APQP and PPAP experience.
- Strong interpersonal / communication skills to collaborate effectively in building a team and influencing others in a highly matrixed and cross functional environment.
- Confident self-starter motivated by challenging work.
Knowledge and Experience - Desired:
- Lean manufacturing mindset
- Fundamental knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Fundamental knowledge of IPC-610 standard and ESD
- Fundamental knowledge of CMM – PCDMIS
- Basic Knowledge of Control plan, PFMEA’s to ensure the effectiveness and reliability of a process
- Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to set and meet individual goals and deadlines to ensure projects are completed on time
- Ability to resolve technical and complex issues
- Knowledge of SAP
- Desire to expand own knowledge and skill set as well as sharing knowledge with other team members wherever possible
Travel:
- Travel (interstate, intrastate, and overseas) is a requirement of this role – up to 25 %
