Purpose of Position:

The main components to this role are:

  • To participate in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process to ensure the interests of the Company and end user are represented ensuring a pragmatic, viable product is released in a commercially sustainable manner.
  • To plan, coordinate, conduct and report upon the field trial of the Product as part of the Product Release Process transitioning products from Development teams to a Selling/Service and Support Unit
  • Ensure products achieve the stated customer and functional requirements.
  • To plan, coordinate, conduct and report upon the transfer of product knowledge to the BU.
  • Conduct internal training on new products for internal technical staff (Service and Support)
  • To provide pre-sales support and technical input for product development, and product training to internal stakeholders (i.e. Sales, Project Engineering, Training and Customer Care)
  • To assist in the development of functional requirement specifications for products
  • To assist with competitor analysis activities
  • Contribute to and as require, edit complete product documentation set.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Ensure when products are released they are successfully transitioned from development into a selling unit’s region and the rest of the organization for deployment.
  • Coordinate field trials of new release and new products
  • Provide internal training for technical staff to be able to carry out deployments and other service and support related tasks (train the trainer)
  • Provide internal training to sales staff, assisting them in understanding the value proposition and use cases of the new products
  • Provides insight into technical and client requirements for products to Product Management based on market / industry knowledge and experience to ensure that future developments and product enhancements will set Hexagon apart from its competitors and provide end users with the desired functionality and features
  • Support in definition of
    • Initial deployments of the new products
    • product roadmaps,
    • product release execution
    • operations handover documentation
  • As required be part of the escalation of customer issues rising as part of new product introductions
  • Participation in a cross functional project team to develop, test and/or maintain existing products
  • Act as a Product Champion for assigned product/s
  • Standardize base deployment of existing and new products
  • Facilitate best practice definition with regional service teams to create global standards
  • Develop skills for new product families and transfer this knowledge to regional teams
  • Audit regional best practices for deployment methodologies
  • Assist Product Management in development of product specifications, documentation and verification of product requirements; preparation of functional requirements specifications
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, representing the company in a professional and courteous manner at all time
  • Participate in and provide support to sales and marketing team for sales presentations, proposals, tradeshows, demo events, and open house events
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure a common and effective approach to documentation structure and content, issue logging, and the development and capture of internal processes
  • Provide support to regions by carrying out deployment activities on initial deployments and until region capabilities match demand
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes within the Mining team
  • Actively participate in cross training and knowledge transfer initiatives across functional teams where possible
  • Adheres to Hexagon values

Knowledge and Experience - Required:

  • A relevant Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering, Communications), or equivalent combination of education and experience. Formal training qualifications are desirable, but not essential
  • Experience working in the mining environment and with mining applications.
  • Fluent working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Fluent English (written and verbal). Additional languages (e.g. Portuguese, Spanish) would be highly regarded.

Knowledge and Experience - Desired:

  • Strong technical skills and the ability to rapidly grasp customers' requirements and technical solutions
  • Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge and experience on new technologies in order to use the knowledge to provide customer support and training

Travel:

  • Up to 50% travel will be a requirement of this role both regionally and internationally
