Purpose of Position:
Hexagon Mining is looking for Manager of Quality Assurance & Supplier Quality Engineering . In this position, you will lead a team comprised of Quality Engineers, Quality Assurance Engineers and Inspectors. The manager works collaboratively with Supply Chain Management (SCM), Product Development and Supplier partners to ensure all production material and parts meet our high quality and reliability standards.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
As Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Lead the Quality Assurance team, manage deliverables, prepare staff performance reviews, and provide coaching
- In cooperation with functional peers, ensure an effective Quality Assurance program is in place and is understood throughout the organization
- Work collaboratively with engineering teams to ensure quality requirements are clearly documented and communicated to supplier and team members
- Plan, execute, and oversee product inspection and testing for quality and conformance to specifications and deliverables
- Monitor supplier performance and develop / implement effective action plans to improve poor performing suppliers
- Investigate supplier quality issues to determine root cause, conduct incoming parts inspections as needed and identify and implement corrective actions
- Work collaboratively with supply chain team to continually reduce risk in the supply of goods and services
- Provide training and support to quality assurance team members that covers systems, policies, procedures, and core processes
- Lead the supplier approval process by assessing business controls, risk management, quality controls and manufacturing/technology capabilities
- Carry out supplier validation audits, and compile audit reports
- Develop and implement rigorous and practical supplier qualification process. Develop and execute qualification plans based on needs from NPI, cost reduction and supply chain risk mitigation programs.
- Work with team to continually improve process
Knowledge and Experience - Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Engineering or Material Science discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in quality engineering, quality assurance and leading Supplier on-site audits
- Experience leading and managing a team of professionals in the high-tech manufacturing sector
- In-depth knowledge of quality engineering techniques i.e. problem solving such as 8D, root causes analysis, 5 Why, etc.
- Effective written and verbal English language communications skills
Proven Success Factors:
- Proven collaboration skills with cross functional teams (i.e. readily and willingly shares information and expertise with others and facilitates the exploration of ideas and solutions)
- Application of Quality Control Tools (SPC, Gage R&R, Process Capability, FMEA, DOE)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal / communication skills to collaborate effectively in building a team and influencing others in a highly matrixed and cross functional environment
- Confident Self-starter motivated by challenging work
Knowledge and Experience - Desired:
- Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, TS16949 and ISO14001, ASQ Certification
- Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings
- Understanding of Health and Safety practices
- Language Skills a Plus (Spanish)
Travel:
- Some International and/or Domestic travel is required.
