Purpose of Position:
We are looking for a Hardware Applications Engineer with the ability to prioritize customer software/hardware issues, resolve customer problems, and maintain good customer relation. This is a highly technical engineering support role that is responsible for providing outstanding support to Hexagon consumer customers. The Hardware Applications Engineer is someone who has superb interpersonal skills, to understand, explain, and problem solves for customers and engineers. We are seeking a motivated individual who brings independent analysis, communication, and analytical skills.

Responsibility:

  • Perform hardware design reviews including schematic and SI reviews to ensure customer designs meet Hexagon guidelines
  • Define, analyze, and develop systems engineering, mechanical and electronics requirements for Hexagon Mining hardware products
  • Design, validate, execute, and evaluate tests for Hexagon Mining hardware products
  • Generate technical documentation to support Hexagon Mining hardware products including specifications, content for technical manuals and data sheets, test plans, drawings, etc.
  • Work directly with our Hexagon customers, and analyze data to answer questions, reproduce errors, resolve same, or escalate customer issues
  • Be involved in customer interactions and communications via conference calls, or face to face meetings
  • Familiarize yourself with performing hardware debug procedures using oscilloscopes, analyzers, and shell scripts to qualify, validate and resolve Hexagon product issues for customer systems
  • Track, file new bugs and reproduce issues as needed
  • Create hardware design guides, application notes, datasheets, and other supporting technical collateral
  • Work on initiatives and provide feedback to the product team to influence future Hexagon product designs based on the feedback from customers and technology trends
  • Oversight for the design and development of the group’s hardware platform for current and future products.
  • Design, Test, and Delivery of PCBA solutions
  • Ensure the compatibility of selected hardware with software and approved overall product directions.
  • Provide support to Manufacturing, Service/Support and RMA teams to solve hardware related issues, improve processes and design/specify testing fixtures and procedures
  • Perform a deep analysis of new products returned from field trials to discover the existence of design flaws, and propose solutions for such issues
  • Work with 3rd party certification laboratories to obtain compliance/certification on new and existing hardware products, including filing paperwork, creating test samples, preparing execution scripts and procedures, and devising solutions for compliance failures
  • Provide recommendations regarding hardware product directions relevant to the mining business and new technologies.
  • Initiate continuous product improvement activities.
  • Other duties as required from time to time
Knowledge & Experience Required:
  • BS/MS in EE, CE, Systems Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience
  • Experience with autonomous vehicles and/or Product Development is desirable
  • Strong analytical skills including experience in PCB design and review
  • Professional-level interpersonal skills, including an ability to adjust communication to the technical level of the audience
  • A highly developed capability to communicate procedures, results, and recommendations accurately and succinctly to customers
  • Experience with using lab tools such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and logic analyzers
  • Comfortable working in various Linux environments as well as with Windows OSs
