Functional Safety Engineer
ENGINEERING/RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT | Hybrid in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada | Full Time | From CAD $68,800 to CAD $100,000 per year
Position will be hybrid in office at time and must be within 2 hours +/- of Dowling/Sudbury

Purpose of Position:
The Functional Safety Engineer will play a key role conducting functional safety analyses and planning to ensure our products are in compliance at Hexagon’s Integrated Machine Systems division. You will work closely with our Drive-by-Wire team and collaborate with our highly skilled team to develop autonomy enabling products. Our product enables many Hexagon product offerings and provides an innovative opportunity with new industry technologies.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop functional safety plans for product development and work with process owners to address functional safety and process requirements
- Work with ourregional representativesto ensure safety and regulatory requirements are met
- Create safety concepts and related documentation
- Perform safety analysis and metrics calculations
- Review and approve work products from a functional safety perspective
- Conduct product functional safety audits and assessments and support third party audits and assessments
Knowledge and Experience - Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering(Electrical or Computer Science)
- Minimum of 5 years working in a functional safety compliant product development environment with involvement in functional safety activities
- Exposure to development ofautonomousmining system
Knowledge and Experience - Desired:
- Ability to work productively with colleagues and cross functional teams
- Proficient in leading technical activities
- Strong analytical andproblem-solvingskills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as it pertains to articulating, documenting and presenting findings and recommendations
Travel:
- Up to 10% Domestic travel
