Bottling Mechanic and Backup Operator

Production | American Canyon, CA | Full Time | From $32.00 to $42.00 per hour

Job Description

The Bottling Mechanic/back up Operator is responsible for supporting the daily activities of the production bottling line by being a subject matter expert on all major equipment. Reporting to Mgr. Bottling Engineering & Ops, this role works directly with the production operators, and is instrumental in developing a high-energy, high-output and overall effective bottling department for Hess Persson Estates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on all major pieces of bottling equipment, operating, trouble shooting and preventive maintenance.
  • Perform maintenance/ repair of bottling line equipment.
  • Perform weekly PMs
  • Maintain cleanliness of bottling line.
  • Ordering of parts and consumables used on the bottling line by directly dealing with vendors.
  • Perform repairs and adjustments to bottling equipment during production to ensure line is running efficiently.
  • Provides technical and specialty expertise in the installation, maintenance, and repair of bottling line equipment. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Install and modify new and used equipment, fabricate and machine parts as necessary.
  • Maintain effective relationship with other departments.
  • Working knowledge of Procedures, SQF, GMPs, HACCP and facility regulatory standards.
  • Leads by example, ensuring all safety procedures are followed.
  • Serve as back up Bottling Line operator, operating and performing basic troubleshooting on equipment including Monobloc, capsulator, labeler, depal, palletizer and case packer.
  • Safely and efficiently operate assigned pieces of equipment to meet or exceed established production goals while upholding quality standards.
  • Ensure proper materials are being used.
  • Perform pre-production line sterilization and post-production sanitation to winemaker’s specifications.
  • Changeovers of bottling line equipment to different packages.
  • Ensure all packaging elements are correct per the specifications prescribed for each individual package format.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and good trouble-shooting skills
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Strong desire to see bottling line run smoothly and efficiently
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Well-organized with ability to multitask
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work after hours as needed and be on call for emergencies.
  • Must have positive communication and interpersonal skills.

This role’s compensation is anticipated to fit within the range of $32 – $42 hourly rate. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate skills, experience, knowledge and education.
