Job Description
Position Summary: Position is responsible for the preparation of human urine and oral fluid samples for toxicological analysis via clinical analyzer and LC-MS/MS instrumentation. Prepares all samples following written SOPs. Consults with senior scientists or lab management when problems arise. Prepares all reagents and standards to be used in sample analysis. Creates and submits batches on analytical instrumentation. Participates in all proficiency testing, and ensures compliance to regulatory accreditations. Variable shifts needed.
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Receive urine and oral fluid samples from Accessioning department
Prepare all urine and oral fluid samples for analysis
Prepare all reagents required for preparation of specimens, including stock solutions, internal standards, diluent, mobile phases and master mix
Stock the preparation area each day to ensure no delays in preparation. Notify the manager or purchasing coordinator when supplies are low for re-order.
Load final prepared specimens onto instruments, build and submit batches on the LC-MS instruments
Participate in all quality discussions and initiatives, participate in general lab improvement discussions.
Participate in CAP proficiency testing
Qualifications:
Required:
Associate’s degree in hard science in combination with a MLT certification
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in a hard science (Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry) or related field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent laboratory skills, especially manual and electronic pipetting techniques
Strict attention to detail and quality procedures
Strong organizational and communication skills
Commitment to both our clients and their patients to provide the most accurate test results possible, in a timely fashion
Ability to work overtime as needed
