Heatherwick Studio is looking for an experienced architectural PM to join the Project Management team to work on exciting projects of various natures and scales. The ideal profile we are looking for is a seasoned Project Architect who is already largely exposed to delivering projects and wants to keep developing her/his career in project management.
As Project Manager, you will support/work alongside the Group/Project leader to facilitate and manage the work flow & programme of high profile, technically challenging and creative designs and work as part of a talented team to ensure the quality delivery of large scale architectural projects.
You will be responsible for defining and ensuring the efficient internal management of the project programme and delivery from concept through to construction and potentially post occupation, supporting the Project Lead in overall resource and budget management of the project whilst providing an excellent level of professional service to the client and partner organisations.
1. Project Programme Management
1.1. Establish overall project programme with the Project Leader, client and external partners.
1.2. Oversee and ensure project programme deadlines are met; challenge timeframes to safeguard the design periods.
1.3. Prepare detailed design programmes appropriate to the work stage clearly outlining objectives, interim information exchanges and design team outputs to ensure the whole design team has a clear understanding of how and what they need to contribute to meet contractual milestones.
1.4. Responsible for project programme and internal project budget management.
1.5. During construction, ensure the project team reviews submittals and shop drawings, coordinates the response to RFIs; coordinating with the owner’s representatives, contractors and executive architects.
2. Project Delivery
2.1. Support and monitor the delivery of the project in line with the project brief, contractual framework and resource plan.
2.2. In collaboration with the project leader, structure the team(s) and workload effectively and implement procedures to ensure appropriate usage of resources.
2.3. Identify and mitigate areas of risk/ concern and their potential impact on Heatherwick Studio pre-emptively.
2.4. Work closely and in co-ordination with the Technical Lead.
2.5. Develop, nurture and maintain excellent relationship with the client representative(s) on the project.
3. Project Scope Management
3.1. Monitor, evaluate, comment upon and promote positive working relationships with partner organisations in the definition and coordination of matters of scope and responsibility. This includes the review and commenting on core design team, specialist consultants’ and executive architect’s scopes to minimise the potential for scope conflict.
3.2. Internal team: actively monitor adherence to defined scope and ensure the project teams stays on track staying within what is required and not taking on tasks outside of their scope.
3.3. External partners: establish clear lines of communication with external team members, including co-ordination and review of their activities, milestones and monitoring of progress and outputs in accordance with their scopes.
4. Design Procedure & Process Management
4.1. Establish and implement design procedures and protocols to be followed by the Design Team necessary for successful project delivery.
4.2. Prepare in advance a formal timetable and agenda for all project workshops and obtain all necessary input from the Design.
4.3. Define, prepare and execute a design management strategy, design management plan and plan of work for the project, following liaison with all Design Team members.
4.4. Monitor and collate comments from the Client on design submission and manage responses from the Design Team.
5. Knowledge Management
5.1. Participate in sharing knowledge with other project teams through cross team activities such as Design Reviews, Project Managers working group, etc.
5.2. Participate in learning activities, keep abreast of statutory regulations, technological developments and regularly attend internal studio talks and workshops.
5.3. Develop professional and technical skills.
5.4. Share knowledge, experience and lessons learned across the team and the wider studio.
6. Studio Contribution
6.1. Contribute proactively to wider studio projects and initiatives.
6.2. Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships, internally and externally.
6.3. Contribute to promoting the studio culture.

Your skills and experience:
- Graduated with an architectural or relevant degree
- At least 15 years proven track professional experience within the architectural industry
- Extremely familiar working with a design-led architectural studio
- Great understanding of the creative design process through all work stages.
- Experience of overseeing complex international projects within collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Extensive experience in project management, project planning and set up
- Extremely comfortable dealing with different stakeholders of a complex project
- Familiar with contract administration, scoping, fee negotiation and appointment of sub-contractors
- Solid technical knowledge of complex architectural projects
- Good understanding of BIM process.
- Great communication skills in writing and speaking
