What we need:

As a Cloud Ops Engineer at Healthx, you will play a key role in managing and maintaining Healthx’s production systems in AWS.  Our cloud environment includes multiple AWS technologies, such as VPCs, EC2, containers, LBs, and other AWS services.  Day to day responsibilities will include monitoring, tuning, backup, recovery, and issue resolution for the Windows and Linux-based infrastructure.  The role will have input into AWS architecture.

Outcomes:

  • Provide support and resolution for complex technical issues
  • Install, configure, administer, and monitor cloud-based infrastructure
  • Perform regular security reviews including recommending gaps in infrastructure not meeting compliance rules (SOC2, HIPAA), document systems, processes, and procedures
  • Ensure that our applications and infrastructure are designed and implemented to the highest security standards thus maintaining and enhancing customer trust
  • Support our AWS and other public cloud environments, leveraging:
           EC2, S3, EBS, ALB/ELB, VPCs, SGs, CloudWatch
  • Define and drive new technology introduction and adoption
  • Participate in infrastructure automation
  • Create and respond to production monitors: triage, troubleshoot and resolution
  • Support the deployment of cloud solution software during and off regular office hours
  • Support for both Linux and Windows systems
  • Manage and maintain existing infrastructure, both cloud and physical
  • Monitor, and troubleshoot issues with physical servers, virtual servers, and Cisco/related networking gear
  • Identify automation opportunities, design and develop solutions to improve operations efficiency

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer related field or equivalent
  • Experience with IT operations using Windows and Linux
  • Experience and familiarity with routing and switching
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with cloud applications and infrastructure (AWS strongly preferred)
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills
  • Highly Preferred:
    • AWS Certification preferred; strong knowledge of AWS services and security required
    • Experience with Infrastructure as Code
    • Familiarity with building and maintaining containers
    • Experience with Python, Shell Scripts, Powershell, etc.
    • Proven focus on teamwork and collaborative interaction with operations and development teams and other departments
    • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
    • Can-do attitude, motivation and ability to prioritize and execute tasks with minimal supervision
    • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch)
    • Comfortable with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional areas
    • Capable of quickly troubleshooting complex problems, understanding dependencies and deducing the root cause of issues
    • Basic understanding of Compliance standards and rules for SOC2, and HIPAA
    • Experience in clustered/dynamically scaling systems
    • Familiarity of a disaster recovery process and reporting security breaches is desired
