ABOUT THE JOB:

Research Associates provide meaningful technical, administrative, and research-related support to our seasoned team of polling strategists. In this position, you will learn the key elements of successful survey research while contributing to a wide-array of client projects, preparing materials and ensuring the quality and accuracy of final deliverables. This is a temporary position for the 2024 election cycle with potential to extend to a permanent role in 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project coordination with internal departments and outside vendors
  • Gather preliminary data and conduct background research for projects
  • Program surveys (training provided) and test survey programming
  • Monitor and take notes for client conference calls, focus groups and other qualitative
  • Draft questions and help prepare scripts for focus groups
  • Prepare data tables and PowerPoint decks showcasing research findings
  • Conduct rigorous quality control checks on quantitative and qualitative data
  • Proof data in memos, charts, graphs
  • Work on specialized research projects as requested

All positions at Hart Research Associates may be asked to provide support and assistance outside of their core job function. Executing additional duties as requested is a core requirement of every job. Evening and weekend hours may be required. Overtime will be paid for more than 40 hours of week per week.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree or at least 4 years of relevant training/work experience
  • Keen eye for detail and excellent time-management/organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal, writing and communication skills
  • Strong math skills and experience working with data
  • A good listener and thoughtful reader; able to take clear, thorough notes
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • A self-starter, able to work well both independently and collaboratively
  • Able to work weekends/evenings (overtime pay provided)

A couple of things that will put your application ahead of other candidates:

  • Coursework in computer programming, statistics and/or data analytics
  • Working knowledge of statistical software packages (R, SPSS)
  • Fluency in Spanish

This job is based in our modern, secure, light-filled, open-floor plan office space in Washington, DC. We maintain a hybrid work environment that provides employees flexibility to work from home several days per week. Employees for this position must live within the Greater DC Region to be available for in-person meetings and/or in-office work, as needed or as requested by Company and/or Supervisor. Teleworking as a flexible work arrangement may be altered at the discretion of the Company.

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and ability to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to be in one position for long periods of screen use, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear both in person and over devices. The employee interacts in close spaces and frequently with other workers, vendors, and clients. The office is equipped with an elevator. The position works in an office environment with artificial light and air.
