Heavy Civil Estimator – Highway/DOT/Bridge

Job Title – Heavy Civil Estimator – Highway/DOT/Bridge

Multiple Location: Salt Lake City, Utah (or) Denver, CO (or) Scottsdale & Tempe, AZ (or) Anaheim, CA

The Role:

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Estimator with strong heavy civil background (earthwork, paving, utilities, structures). This person will serve as a key point of contact for design teams and owners, leading preconstruction efforts and developing detailed cost estimates on complex transit, civil infrastructure, and highway projects.

What You’ll Do:

Lead estimating on assigned pursuits with minimal oversight

Prepare detailed take-offs, unit pricing, and final cost estimates

Analyze crew compositions, production rates, and equipment needs

Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor/supplier quotes

Oversee junior estimators/interns during takeoffs and vendor outreach

Develop bid strategies and present estimates to leadership/owners

Expertise Areas:

1- Earthwork/Grading: geotech review, mass haul, production analysis

2- Paving (Concrete & Asphalt): quarry/pit sourcing, mix designs, incentive/penalty analysis

3- Underground Utilities: trench safety, assembly takeoffs (valves, hydrants, etc.), backfill methods

4- Bridges/Structures: falsework/formwork, post-tensioning, crane/erection planning

Qualifications:

10+ years of estimating experience (heavy civil preferred)

4-year engineering degree OR equivalent technical training/experience

Advanced HCSS experience required; proficient in MS Office

Proven ability to lead estimates as primary point of contact

LEED/DBIA certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain)
