Job Summary

Westbound I-80 Truck Scales is seeking professional, dependable, and highly observant Site Patrol Drivers to provide overnight security services for an active Kiewit-managed construction project in Fairfield, California.

The Site Patrol Driver is responsible for conducting continuous vehicle patrols throughout the construction site, monitoring access points, enforcing site security procedures, completing QR code scans, documenting patrols and incidents, identifying safety hazards, protecting company assets, and responding appropriately to emergencies and suspicious activity. Officers are expected to maintain a professional presence while ensuring the safety of project personnel, contractors, visitors, equipment, and property.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct continuous vehicle patrols throughout the entire construction site.

  • Patrol all designated areas, including:

    • East and West entrances

    • Equipment yards

    • Connex storage areas

    • Fuel tank locations

    • Site offices

    • Building construction zones

    • Perimeter fencing and surrounding property

  • Operate a 4x4 patrol vehicle equipped with functioning emergency lighting and a controllable spotlight.

  • Utilize a high-powered lantern or spotlight during nighttime patrols.

  • Complete all required QR code scans at designated checkpoints from the assigned patrol locations.

  • Utilize Time Stamp and other approved mobile applications to document patrols, inspections, incidents, and site conditions.

  • Submit photographs and activity updates through approved company communication platforms.

  • Monitor for trespassing, unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, property damage, suspicious activity, civil disturbances, and safety hazards.

  • Observe and report unsafe work practices, spills, leaks, exposed wiring, blocked exits, unsecured materials, and other hazardous conditions.

  • Enforce all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements when individuals enter designated work areas.

  • Ensure only authorized personnel access restricted construction zones.

  • Verify visitor information including name, employer, and purpose of visit during active work hours.

  • Maintain accurate visitor and contractor access logs.

  • Maintain regular communication with Dispatch and Management throughout the shift.

  • Respond promptly to Dispatch safety checks and status requests.

  • Monitor and answer company-issued phones according to company procedures.

  • Complete Daily Activity Reports (DARs), hourly activity logs, and Incident Reports accurately and thoroughly.

  • Document all incidents using company reporting standards, including witness information, photographs, timestamps, and detailed observations.

  • Assist police, fire, and emergency medical personnel by providing site access, directions, and relevant information when requested.

  • Maintain a professional and visible security presence throughout the shift.

  • Keep assigned patrol vehicles and work areas clean, organized, and ready for service.

  • Complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections using the Samsara Driver App.

Crime Prevention & Emergency Response

  • Prioritize officer safety during all incidents.

  • Observe and report crimes in progress, including theft, vandalism, trespassing, equipment tampering, vehicle burglaries, and suspicious activity.

  • Immediately move to a safe location whenever conditions become unsafe.

  • Contact 911 immediately during criminal activity, fires, medical emergencies, or other life-threatening situations.

  • Provide emergency dispatchers with accurate location information, descriptions of involved individuals or vehicles, and details of the incident.

  • Notify Company Dispatch and Management immediately following emergency notifications.

  • Never pursue, detain, or physically confront suspects.

  • Assist with site evacuations and emergency response activities when requested.

  • Prepare detailed Incident Reports documenting observations, actions taken, witness information, photographs, and final outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid California Guard Card (Required).

  • Previous construction site or vehicle patrol security experience preferred.

  • Valid California Driver License with a clean driving record.

  • Ability to safely operate a 4x4 patrol vehicle.

  • Strong observation, situational awareness, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to prepare accurate Daily Activity Reports and Incident Reports.

  • Professional appearance and strong customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to walk, stand, drive, and patrol for extended periods.

  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) throughout the shift.

  • Ability to operate smartphones, QR scanning systems, Time Stamp applications, Samsara Driver App, and company communication platforms.

  • Ability to remain calm and respond effectively during emergencies.

  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance preferred.

Schedule

Graveyard Shift Friday - Sunday10:00 PM – 6:00 AM

Work Environment

  • Active highway construction project.

  • Outdoor vehicle patrol assignment.

  • Frequent driving, walking, standing, and inspections throughout the site.

  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, construction equipment, and active work zones.

  • Regular interaction with contractors, vendors, visitors, project management, and emergency responders.

  • Daily use of mobile reporting applications, QR code scanning systems, Time Stamp applications, Samsara Driver App, and company communication platforms.

  • Required use of site-specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hat, high-visibility safety vest, work boots, safety glasses, and protective gloves.
