 Running & Movement Coach, Hourly and Full-Time Positions. 

About SpeedLab: 

SpeedLab is a new innovative running and movement space located inside COPA Soccer Training Center (COPA STC) in Walnut Creek, California. SpeedLab features elite-level technology, proven training methods, and curated spaces designed to teach people how to move and run. SpeedLab is designed to serve the modern athlete with engaging technology and carefully constructed teaching methods. Running is a life skill that is often overlooked. SpeedLab coaches and trainers teach effective and healthy running techniques to beginner and experienced athletes from a variety of sports. 

SpeedLab Classes Offer:   

  • Expert running instruction utilizing high-speed treadmills and dynamic movement devices. 

  • Detailed movement and running analysis to base training programs on objective results. 

  • SpeedCourt: This floor sensor technology from our German partner, GlobalSpeed, is used by professional organizations worldwide. It facilitates interactions between the brain, the nervous system, and the muscles to improve movement skills. 

  • SpeedTrack: An indoor sprint track for training and competitions that uses sensors and smart technology to assess various stages of an athlete’s running process.   

  • Movement Skills: An engaging routine that refines nervous system development for athletes of all ages. 

  • Small group classes. 

  • Locker Rooms with lockers, showers, and towel services for all members. 

  • Running and movement coaching for both athletic and general members. 

About the Position: 

Our SpeedLab coaches are running and movement experts who will lead technique and movement training sessions for SpeedLab members. This position will provide opportunities to coach small groups of athletes of all ages and from many sports. 

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Design, teach, and lead classes. 

  • Create a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for clients to enjoy. 

  • Participate in staff development and outreach events.  

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Customer Service experience. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality experiences for our members. 

  • Proven growth mindset: Desire to obtain additional skills, certificates, and advanced education. 

  • A professional, enthusiastic, and friendly personality. 

  • A strong interest in the development and progression of athletes. 

  • Maintain high standards of conduct.  

  • Ability to learn and become comfortable with our technology, operating software, and hardware which will be integral to our programs. 

  • Must be experienced, comfortable, and skilled at working with athletes of all ages.  

  • Committed to providing a fun and rewarding experience for SpeedLab members. 

  • Physical effort and exertion are required for this role. This position’s responsibilities may include all exercise and sports-related movements, equipment maintenance, lifting weights up to 45 pounds, and prolonged periods of walking and standing. 

Preferred Background: 

  • College Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field is preferred.   

  • Experience as an exercise coach with diverse populations.  

  • Current CPR/AED certification or an ability to gain certification within two months of hiring. 

  • The ability to dependably arrive on time at our Walnut Creek facility.
