About the job:
The Guidebook team is seeking a proven self-starting individual to join as a B2B Marketing Operations Manager. This individual will be responsible for optimizing and executing marketing processes, managing marketing automation (Marketo or equivalent technology), lead data connection to our CRM (Salesforce), and leverage analytics to power data-driven decision-making for ‘top of funnel’ effectiveness across the organization. This role requires close partnership with marketing, sales, and operations teams to ensure seamless ‘top of funnel’ execution, accurate reporting, and continuous process improvement. This role is ideal for a process-driven, analytical marketer who thrives in a fast-paced B2B environment and who is deeply passionate about leveraging technology to drive marketing effectiveness and business growth.
For sake of clarity, this role is not a people management position, and you would be an individual contributor on a highly collaborative team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
System Administration:
Build, deploy, and monitor marketing automation programs, such as Marketo or equivalent (engagement, triggers, email, webinar, and event campaigns).
Create and manage workflows, emails, landing pages, and forms; ensure quality standards and testing before launch.
Build robust flows between our corp website, Marketo (or equivalent, as we’re exploring replacements), CRM systems, Chili Piper, Unbounce, ZoomInfo, and Ringlead.
Support A/B testing, segmentation, and campaign optimization.
Maintain data integrity and compliance within the marketing database.
Oversee marketing-specific CRM requests, troubleshoot issues, and manage lead-to-opportunity workflows.
Optimize our Salesforce/Marketo (or equivalent) integrations for accurate lead and campaign tracking.
Iterate and improve lead structures and lead scoring, assist in automating assignment processes, and maintain data quality in ‘top of funnel’ data capture.
Analytics & Reporting:
Develop and maintain metrics reports on marketing and sales activities, campaign effectiveness, and business impact.
Establish feedback loops on unconverted ‘top of funnel’ activity (qualitative and quantitative).
Analyze campaign and lead performance, conversion rates, and deliver actionable insights with clear recommendations for improvement.
Track and report on results, providing data-driven suggestions to stakeholders.
Process Optimization:
Identify and resolve inefficiencies in marketing and sales processes.
Document and improve workflows, develop standardized playbooks, and support best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on campaign strategy, execution, and reporting.
WITHIN 3 MONTHS, YOU’LL:
Become fully onboarded to Guidebook’s marketing tech stack (Marketo/equivalent, Salesforce, HubSpot, Chili Piper, Unbounce, ZoomInfo, Ringlead); able to execute basic campaigns and workflows independently.
Accurately build and launch Marketo/equivalent programs (email, webinar, event campaigns), managing forms and landing pages with quality control.
Effectively support A/B testing, campaign segmentation, and basic optimization.
Maintain data integrity and troubleshoot simple issues within marketing systems.
Deliver initial campaign and lead performance reports, demonstrating proficiency with analytics platforms in use.
Establish relationships and communication protocols with marketing, sales, and operations stakeholders.
Document initial process improvements and recommendations for lead workflows.
WITHIN 6 MONTHS, YOU’LL:
Optimize and refine integrations between Marketo (or equivalent, as we’re exploring alternatives), Salesforce, and other systems for more accurate tracking and lead management.
Proactively identify and resolve inefficiencies in marketing and sales processes, contributing to developing or updating playbooks and workflow documentation.
Independently analyze top-of-funnel metrics; present actionable insights and recommendations for campaign improvements to stakeholders.
Iteratively improve lead structures, scoring models, and automated assignment processes.
Elevate reporting, incorporating greater detail on conversion rates and campaign/business impact.
Demonstrate continuous learning: implement at least one new best practice or tool learned from ongoing research or peer collaboration.
WITHIN 12 MONTHS, YOU’LL:
Own end-to-end “top of funnel” execution and analytics, consistently delivering data-driven strategy improvements that lead to measurable business growth.
Maintain a robust marketing data infrastructure, ensuring ongoing compliance, efficiency, and alignment across all integrated platforms.
Present quarterly and annual process optimization outcomes to leadership, highlighting impact on conversion rates, lead quality, and revenue influence.
Contribute to the evolution of marketing technology by proposing and piloting new tools or workflow innovations.
Serve as a subject matter expert for marketing operations best practices, both within the team and as a resource for cross-functional partners.
OTHER CHARACTERISTICS OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
4+ years in a marketing operations or similar B2B role.
Demonstrated ability to manage and optimize marketing automation and CRM systems.
Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to oversee multiple campaigns and deadlines simultaneously.
Experience with workflow documentation and process improvement.
