Guidebook is a simple yet powerful mobile application builder that lets you create an app in four easy steps with no technical skills required.

Thousands of organizations across the globe use Guidebook to create mobile applications for events, university campus open houses, venue guides, onboarding for associations, corporate trainings and so much more. These apps help people stay organized, connect with their peers, and access more information - but it doesn’t stop there.

Our mission is to connect people with the resources they need to get the most out of their experience - in person and virtually. We are a driven team on a mission to help people of all skill levels create intuitive and engaging mobile apps.

We are a driven team on a mission to elevate mobile experiences for everyone – and believe we can accomplish that while highly valuing balance, togetherness, and fun!

We value communication, ownership, and execution. Our goal is to identify and develop each of our team member’s individual strengths; we use those strengths to foster a culture of accountability and high performance across our Engineering Organization.

We pride ourselves on developing best-in-class products from our web-based content management system to our mobile experience. Our team members have a diverse array of talent and experience, and we’re looking for other intellectually curious developers to join our cause.

Make no mistake about it—you will be contributing in meaningful ways to our consumer-facing product suite that touches hundreds of thousands of users each month.

As an Android Developer at Guidebook, you’ll work alongside the product team and other cross-functional counterparts including designers, QA, front end, back end, and iOS engineers to make improvements to our mobile app. As the main contributor to our Android app, you'll work closely with your manager to complete projects and steer the direction of the Android codebase.

You will report to our VP of Engineering, Chris Casey, and become a part of a tightly-knit mobile team, composed of you and a small iOS team. This role is ideal for an engineer who wants to utilize strong technical experience to affect the team’s success by developing a deep understanding of the codebase and making daily commits while also being an important technical partner to their manager. Our software engineers feel massive ownership over their work and our ideal candidate should be excited to step into a small, agile team to work on meaningful projects that tangibly impact company success. We value empathy, communication, teamwork, and self-development. We send our engineers regularly to relevant conferences like Google IO and give our engineers opportunities to speak to the company at large on demo days.

  • 3+ years of experience developing Android applications

  • Experience with Kotlin and Gradle

  • Excited to take ownership of a codebase and independently execute large-scale projects with the support of your manager

  • Empathetic and an excellent communicator

  • Ability to break down large features into bite-size tasks

  • Enjoys working alongside iOS engineers to build high-quality, consistent features

  • Cares about code quality, and holds themselves and others to a high standard

  • Passionate about building quality products with great UI

  • 100% paid benefits: medical, dental, and vision

  • Short term and long term disability

  • Unlimited vacation time

  • 401k program with matching benefit

  • Stock options

  • A company culture built on balance, community, and shared success

  • MacBook and accessories to make you comfortable working from home

  • Flexibility to work from our downtown Raleigh, North Carolina office – or fully remote.

  • Remote US

  • Bonus for being close to Raleigh, North Carolina (where we have an office available for those who would like to use it).

At Guidebook, we're committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for everyone – and we know that's best achieved, in part, with a diverse workforce. We're working on increasing diversity across the company. If you're looking to join a team that is smart, highly motivated, and also values work/life balance, we can't wait to hear how you can add to our growing culture!

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.

A reasonable estimate of the salary for this role is $100,000-150,000 depending on relevant experience.
