Manager of Financial Controls
Department: Finance
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Position Summary
The Manager of Financial Controls is responsible for overseeing critical accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with internal controls. This role will lead daily accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) oversight, inventory controls, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented leader with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and enhance internal accounting processes to align with company goals.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting team members, ensuring best practices are followed.
- Maintain integrity of the chart of accounts, ensuring accounts provide meaningful financial insights.
- Oversee daily accounting activities, ensuring accuracy in recording revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities.
- Prepare and distribute weekly financial dashboards with key performance insights.
- Ensure inventory countsheets are maintained accurately across all locations.
- Review and analyze weekly inventory variances, collaborating with managers for resolution.
- Maintain accuracy of operational recipes and POS item mapping within the accounting system.
- Resolve accounting discrepancies, including third-party delivery billing and benefits reconciliations.
- Supervise AP & AR staff, ensuring efficient invoice processing and collections management.
- Assist with the preparation of county and state tax filings.
- Lead the month-end close process, including report distribution and executive-level financial presentations.
- Manage the forecasting and budgeting process, analyzing variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Continuously seek process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, budgeting, employee supervision, AP & AR management.
- Experience with automated financial management systems (R365 preferred).
- Strong Excel skills, including data imports/exports, and proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Adobe.
- Ability to manage large workloads, overlapping deadlines, and multiple requests effectively.
- Restaurant industry experience is a plus.
- Lean training or certification is a plus.
