Host/ Hostess - Graziano's Bird Road Restaurant

Job Summary

Host or Hostess welcome patrons, escort them at designated table or in the lounge area and ensure quality of facilities and service.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet guests and escort them at their table or within waiting area.
  • Provide guests with menus.
  • Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs and according to the rotation so that servers receive an appropriate amount of seating.
  • Speak with patrons to ensure satisfaction with food and service, to respond to complaints, or to make conversation.
  • Answer telephone calls and respond to inquiries or transfer calls when needed.
  • Take and prepare to-go orders.
  • Operate cash registers to accept payments for food and beverages. (not sure)
  • Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and customers to ensure that dining details are handled properly, and customers' concerns are addressed.
  • Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of dining room staff to ensure that patrons receive prompt and courteous service.
  • Receive and record patrons' dining reservations.
  • Inspect restrooms for cleanliness and availability of supplies and clean restrooms when necessary.
  • Plan parties or other special events and services.
  • Help coworkers to improve workflow and customer service.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Well-organized with ability to take and place food and beverage orders accurately.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to operate point-of-sale systems.

Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience as a host/hostess preferred.
  • Must successfully complete restaurants training course.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
