Hospice Chaplain (PT)

Bereavement | Ardmore, OK | Part Time

Job Description

As a member of the hospice team, the chaplain supports the spiritual needs of our patients and families by helping to assess and provide for overall patient and family needs, including support at the time of death. The hospice chaplain is not intended to replace the patient's own clergy, but to provide additional spiritual support and help.

  • Part-time position (potential for full time with census growth)
  • Previous experience in healthcare-related pastoral care required

Assessment - Receives patient’s information and makes appointment to determine spiritual needs and concerns, establishing goals with patient and family including frequency of visits.

Visits -  Presents appropriate spiritual support for patent and family based on expressed needs and preferences. Prays with the patient and/or family as invited and provides emotional support as appropriate. Documents visits and progress towards meeting goals.

Bereavement - Participates in bereavement services. Provides spiritual support for survivors as requested.

Teamwork -  Attends IDT meetings and shares specific spiritual needs for each patient in their care. Attends in-services as required. Provides spiritual support for staff as needed.


  • Minimum of a two-year degree in the pastoral or other applicable field
  • Previous experience in healthcare-related pastoral care required
  • Current driver's license and automobile insurance coverage
  • Can successfully pass background checks
