About the Role

The Inventory Lead is a specialized retail leadership role responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, operational excellence, and compliance execution within the store. This position serves as a key partner to store leadership by overseeing critical inventory processes, supporting system integrity, and ensuring inventory controls are consistently executed.

The Inventory Lead provides leadership and oversight for back-of-house operations, inventory-related workflows, receiving activities, and compliance procedures. This role serves as a Manager on Duty (MOD) when assigned and helps ensure operational efficiency while supporting a compliant and audit-ready environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Inventory & Compliance Leadership

  • Oversee daily inventory processes and support inventory accuracy across all product categories.
  • Coordinate receiving, transfers, cycle counts, reconciliations, and inventory movement activities.
  • Monitor inventory-related procedures to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with inventory audits and compliance reviews.
  • Maintain organized, secure, and audit-ready inventory storage areas.
  • Support product lifecycle activities including returns, quarantines, destruction, and other inventory-related workflows.

Operational Oversight

  • Supervise inventory-related tasks performed by team members and provide coaching as needed.
  • Ensure accurate execution of inventory transactions within company systems and compliance platforms.
  • Identify inventory discrepancies, operational concerns, or process gaps and escalate findings to store leadership.
  • Support inventory investigations and root-cause identification efforts.
  • Assist with implementation of operational process improvements and best practices.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Train and coach team members on inventory procedures, compliance standards, and operational expectations.
  • Support accountability and consistency in inventory-related execution.
  • Partner with store leadership to maintain operational excellence and system integrity.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) when assigned.
  • Assist with daily store operations as business needs require.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of retail inventory, operations, logistics, or leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience managing inventory processes within a regulated or highly controlled environment preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience with inventory management systems and reporting tools.
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and operational risks.
  • Cannabis industry experience preferred.
  • Must meet all applicable state requirements for employment within the cannabis industry.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Inventory Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of inventory, operations, logistics, compliance, or retail leadership experience required.
  • Experience overseeing inventory control processes, cycle counts, audits, receiving, transfers, or inventory reconciliation activities preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and operational excellence within a fast-paced environment.
  • Experienceutilizinginventory management systems andmaintainingdata integrity across operational platforms.
  • Experience in a regulated industry, including cannabis, pharmacy, healthcare, alcohol, gaming, or similar environments preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience supervising, training, or coaching team members preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills witha highattention to detail.
  • Proficiency with inventory systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and reporting tools.
  • Must meet all state requirements and maintain eligibility to work within the cannabis industry.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods of time, up to 8-10 hours per shift.
  • Ability to frequently move throughout stockrooms, vaults, inventory storage areas, and sales floor environments.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb step stools or ladders, and reach overheadto accessinventory and storage locations.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to safely move inventory containers, shipments, and operational materials throughout the facility.
  • Ability to perform repetitive inventory counting, sorting, labeling, and data-entry tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to operate inventory management systems, handheld scanners, computers, and other business technology.
  • Ability to work in varying retail and storage environments, including moderate noise levels and changing operational demands.
  • Ability to travel between store locations or attend training and business meetings as needed.
